XM tuner vs XM universal radio?

What would be better? I'm looking into an alpine HU...so would it be better to get the TUNER that plugs into an AUX input or the UNIVERSAL radio that uses an FM modulator? I heard with the FM modulator that your radio station signal will not be as strong? Then finding a good place to put that radio is not that easy in the Max. I've seen it off to the side by the climate controls but it would be in the way of my passenger. Or where the Traction control button is (which I don't have in my car anyway) but then the steering wheel would block the view of the display. Just want everyone's opinion. Thanx in advance for .org's input.

I was going to get the tuner but it's out of stock where I was going to get it from. And I was just curious of how the universal radio would be? I like the XM commander, roady, or that bulky one; i think it's called the Skyy.
