Heated Seats on the Cheap: Part II - Install

Here's my original thread, which started this all. Thx for everyones input. Basically, I purchased seat heaters on Ebay for $46 (enough for front and back, though I only did the front) and wired them in myself.

https://maxima.org/forums/showthread...t=heated+seats

Here's my install, with pics: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/raa970...eats/index.htm

None of this installation requires you to take off your original seat covers, or take apart your center console. The only things you have to take off are the 2 trim pieces on the drivers door sill, and a plug that holds on the carpet. This installation is on my 2003 Maxima SE. I didn't use the wiring that came with the kit from Ebay, went to Lowes and bought my own 14 gauge wire and went from there....

Great job on the instructions. The key is finding good seat cover. I hate when aftermarket cover bunch in your a$$ crack.

Anyway, install pictures and descriptions are awesome.

am i talking out of my a$$ or would it be possible to put the heater elements under the OEM seat covers? the only problem I would see is them touching the padding? would that melt? i'm not 100% on the composition of the seat.

Yes, you could put the heater elements under the original seat covers. But a shop wanted $299. So I thought I'd put them on top, and save some $$$. I just use it for the winter anyway.

They look great! I wouldn't mind doing my back seats. Can you post the ebay auction link?
