Synthetic in auto tanny, any noticable diffrences?
My local dealer wants to charge me $140 dollars for a full flush and fill with Amsoil synthetic. basically he said 70 for the oil and 70 for the labor. Has anybody notice a diffrence from this upgrade?
Your not going to notice a huge difference. It shifts from park into other gears smoother. It will however keep the tranny alive longer and save you a boat load of money in the long run because of the longer drain intervals.

Do you notice faster take offs at a attainable speeds , from 60 mph, example?
Smoother acceleration?
The only thing that the synthetic fluid would change would be the shifts. I dont think that it affects the smoothness of acceleration. The VQ is extremely smooth already. Let me know if you have the synth. fluid put in though and how you personally like it. I'll probly be doing it in the spring too
140's a good price. people around me don't even offer amsoil, and the ones that do want to charge me up to 200 for the flush. i'd do it if you own your car. if you lease, forget about it. as far as i know, it's a car care/longevity deal, very little benefits in terms of performance.... unless you're towing

Like others mentioned, no oil, transmission fluid etc. is going to give you any noticeable benefits as far as hp or quicker times. Very minute at best. Yes shifting is smoother, but it's not a night and day difference. It will keep your tranny cooler thus prolonging it's life and saving you money by fewer changes and less repair.

Well i guys i scheduled it to get it done in two weeks so i will let you all know the diffrence then. I am going to change the plugs at the same time, then i am going to add a Injen intake w/greddy exhuast later next month. I want to get my car running at its peak performance level before adding the go fast add ons.
I didn't notice much difference in performance. Possibly smoother shifts, but shifts were already pretty smooth. However, I do have have peace of mind knowing that I'm doing the best for the tranny. lol

So you mixed the two , synthetic and conv? That might be your problem right there...., i really think you should have only one or the other in your tranny.

And why is that? Please quit spreading this garbage. You can go from synthetic to conventional and vise versa. It makes no difference in terms of engine parts or their reliability. The only problems that have come up, is that the higher quality cleaners in synthetic have opened up holes that were clogged by gunk in gaskets. That is all.
In all probability, he has a transmission problem that was amplified by the clean fluid. Would have happened if he did a full flush with either fluid. Get it checked out by a qualified mechanic.
I installed Mobil 1 Synth ATF in the Max last spring at 37k miles. Now at 49k and I did notice a difference in the 1-2 shift... much firmer. I did not flush, just drained it, dropped the pan and installed a new filter. 2002 Maxima SE makes some great points about synth products...... the facts are synths do mix with normal oils without a problem.
