ive never had to use a brush whether it was a drop in or conical. i just bang it on my shoe to loosen the debris. if the filter is all rubber then hitting it on a curb wont do anything but one of my filters has the silver metal top and it slipped out of my hand when i was hitting it on the curb. from now on, i use my shoe.

may sound kind of paranoid but i didnt want to buy a new maf so i let the filter sit in front of a small fan on low for a couple of days. i will also turn it right side up and upside down to let it settle all over. obviously, ive got another filter that i use while its drying but if you dont, i would try to go as long as i could and using the fan is not a bad idea.

how long do people typically wait before cleaning this?

is the general consensus that the cleaning works well?

i have a tube that leads off the stock scoop so i probably pick up more crap than someone with an intake alone. i end up cleaning around around every 8k and its pretty dirty by then. cleaning definetely works for me and is obviously more cost effective than purchasing a new one.
