VIS CF Hood GB

Hello everyone, I'm a regular over on B15Sentra.net but I wanted to post this up to see if there is any interest in participating from the Maxima community. I've talked to Tak of VIS Racing about hosting a GB for the B14 and B15 Nissan Sentra, Altimas, 240sx, 300zx, and Maximas. (Sorry, but no B13 Sentra hoods available)

This would include your choice of either:

These prices are for 10 people and pick-up in So. Cal. If you would need it shipped to either midwest or east coast then figure to add at least another $100-$135 depending on zip code (call them for shipping quote). If there are 15-20 people then the prices would drop an average of $20-30 (give or take)

    Invader

    Evo

    OEM
You know what that looks like

Payment would be through VIS directly. This GB will probably be good for atleast through the end of December although if you need a hood sooner then that feel free to contact either myself, or contact Tak over at VIS. When purchasing use either coupon code: NISSAN GROUP BUY or just mentioned that you talked to Levy (me).

    www.visracing.com
    1(626)573-8383

If there is anything else that interests you from their website then feel free to ask as I'm sure we can add it to the GB.

For any of those interested please PM or email me with your name, screen name and choice of hood. I will have a list and will keep it updated and as accurate as possible.

There have been a total of 6 hoods purchased to date. As you can see if you have any friends that drive other applications they can join in and get discount prices.

VIS will sell the hood at the 10 people price right now. You can always wait to see if more people join(kind of like a waiting list to see if we can reach 15-20), but hopefully those waiting won't back out.

I've seen to many GB that after waiting almost a month they get the required number of people. When payment time comes, a lot of them are nowhere to be found or back out.

Here are pics of my hood that I picked up Thursday

$375.00 but I got it now. No need to wait until the GB ended.
This last pic is my mechanic giving it a quick lookover

Do you mean if they do install over at VIS? I'm not sure, but I don't think it would be a problem. It only takes about 10-15 minutes to swap out hoods. Installing hood pins takes longer. The only thing I notice is that if you get it installed at VIS then what are you going to do with your OEM hood?

I don't know much about the different gens. If you mean the 04 and up models then I'll have to check for you. It might be in development because its not on the application list that they gave me. I'll let you know.

I was searching around for the answer based on car model. The 01,02, and 03 share the same body correct? If they do then it should fit just fine. If they are different (either headlights or hood) then no.

On the application list that VIS gave me it only says 00-01, but on a similar note VIS didn't know the 2000-2003 Sentras were all the same body (B15) so when they came out with their hoods they only listed it as an 02-03 fit.

I haven't heard anything, but I too would like to know. I've heard of a few flying open, but I figured I could remedy that with some hood pins. Anybody else know?

Well you need hood pins with any CF hood...I think the problems I remember were dealing with fitment and possibly even the quality of the actual CF weave...

Well I called VIS today and they said they only have hoods for the 2000-2001 so I guess the 2003 is a different body style. He said it should be available within the next couple months as they are working on the Maxima models to get them up to date.

Just found out from a friend that they are using his car for the mold on the 2003 CF Hood. Just thought I'd let you guys know.

I'll check for you to see if they are. They seem to only be making it for the newer model cars out though. Doesn't hurt to ask.

Could someone please break down the "gens" for me. Like what years refer to what model please. Thanks

If the 4th gen hoods are the new 2004 ones then they will be available at a later date. I know they are working on the 2002-2003 models.

I'll add you to the list of interested. I'll tally up everyone that has shown some interest and some some emails or PMs toward mid December to see if we got the required number of people to qualify for another discount (the 15 people price). If not then the price would be the one listed above.

They used to make one, but their hood used to make the mold got damaged so they will make more once they replace it.

The 2000-2003 hoods are all the same? I didn't know that. Thanks for clearing that up and I'll forward the info to VIS.

As for the Silver CF I just spoke to Tak at VIS on Friday and he said that they can take orders for it, but he won't have it available until January (at best late December). Who did you talk to? If you could either email me or PM me the info I will look into this (don't like being told one thing and then they tell someone else something different)

If you talked to Tak then please let me know your name and when you called. Hope that helps clear things up a bit.

Had one person bow out, but there are a few other "maybe"s that aren't on the list.

geeez....ya'll are slow. 2000-2003 are the same. and besides, weve already figured out that the VIS Has a few blemishes, and they are made of poor quality.

I saw it in person at the Stillen show a few weeks back on an M3 and it was a VIS hood....
You mean the Nissan/Infiniti day that got rained out? I was there, but only briefly. Just went to take care of some business so I was there for only about an hour.

I didn't get to see many of the cars there just the ones in the front. I didn't see the M3. I talked to Tak yesterday and he said that in some occasions he has special ordered stuff so that might be what you saw.

I asked him about having the silver CF and he said that VIS's production plant has a small weave or in other words not a big enought size to cover the hood in one piece. They can make it in silver, but you would get a line where the two separate weaves joined. He doesn't like how it looks so thats why he doesn't want to sell anything until January when they have the appropiate size weave/roll.
