Crankshaft Position sensor???

Does anyone know what a Crankshaft Position sensor does? Any help would be nice, thanks. Dave S. And I'm getting a crazy wobbling like sound from my front end, it gets faster as the speed increases and louder as I slow down, almost a grinding sound.

The Crankshaft Position Sensor tells your ECU rotation/location of the Crankshaft.

There are 2 Crank Position sensors. One is called REF and the other is POS. REF is located under the lower pully and POS is located under the car on the transmission bell housing twards the front.

If POS fails, your car will not run.
