Fuel Injector HELP

Ok, so I have had some problems with my car misfiring. I changed my plugs already. I removed my fuel injectors to take a look at them. Now I am having a hard time getting them back in. I think it has to do with the O-ring. Where does the O-ring go (Around the metal? Around the red plastic?)? If it is supposed to go around the red plastic, which I am assuming it does, Why am I having such a hard time getting it on there? It won't stay

I pulled my injectors out a little while ago, Im pretty sure the O-ring was on the injector, there should be two O-rings on there. One big and one small. To put them back in I gripped the top square with a wrench and pushed down while turning.

AHH! I got gasoline in my eyes...

Anyways, I also lost the metal washer that goes between the injector and that rubber piece.

Yes, I got one at Autozone. Another way to test injector activity with the engine running is to use a mechanics stethoscope. Injectors are pretty noisy if they are operating normally.

Gasoline in the eyes, eh? My sympathies. I was changing the fuel filter in my Exploder once and even though I ran the engine with the fuel pump relay out until the engine died, when I pulled the hose off the filter it sprayed a stream of gasoline. I was underneath the car lying on my back, and as it happened, I was perfectly positioned so that the stream of gasoline sprayed down my nose all the way back to the farthest recesses of my nasal and sinus cavities. I tried flushing with water till I nearly drowned, but I tasted gasoline in my throat for hours after that. I could feel gasoline vapors coming up through my tear ducts and wafting over my eyeballs. I didn't dare sneeze around an open flame, either.
