Air Bag Light is blinking!!!

So I am driving to work this morning and I look at my gauges and right in front of my eyes the stupid air bag light starts to blink. Sorry if this is a repost but I tried to do a search and aparently the search is disabled again. Is this a problem that I should worry about. How can I find out how to see what the problem is? IS there a way that I can get a code of some sort? I hope that it is just a sensor. By the way I have a 1998 SE automatic with 91,000 miles. I noticed a TSB on the TSB thread for a 1995 Maxima ffor a SRS blinking light. It this something simialr.

I know how to reset it, the codes will flash too but I don't have a listing. If you just want to reset it, make sure your dome light is activated by the door, then turn your car to the on position, and press the door switch 7 times very quickly (10 seconds), it will then flash different .. then if you do that once more, the next time you turn the car on it'll stay off .. until the next time the airbags bugger out.

Same problem

I also own a 98 SE with about 93K on it and my airbag light has probably been blinking for a good 2 years!!!! I tried the "press the sensor 7 times and then turn engine on" and it did not work. I dont want to pay a dealership money to just get the light to stop blinking so I just put some electrical tape over the light so it doesnt bother me when driving.

My airbag light also came on today on my 98 se. I did the code diagonis as stated in the previous post and for the ecu. I got (1-2), 1 long followed by 2 short pulses for the air bag and i got 3-4 (knock sensor) for the ecu. Anyone know what the air bag code is? Also could that have triggerred the knock sensor code?

Over the summer the air bag light was blinking on my 98 SE. It diaged to be a side air bag control module........real expensive part. Well, it was covered under the 5 yr/60,000 mile warranty......which i was still within at the time. Fortunately, Nissan forted the bill. You might want to contact Nissan and see if there are any service bulletins or recalls,.......since it is a fairly common problem (especially on 98's, the first year of side air bags) ......Nissan might be able to help you out. Its worth inquiring about anyways.

code 0102: mass air flow sensor or circuit fault
code 0304: knock sensor ( 99% probability was triggered by the above in a domino effect)

Airbags do not trigger codes in the ECU. I guess they have their own separate warning system.

code 0201: ignition signal primary circuit fault.

Dont know what that relates to.

for the 0102 code; was that for the ECU or Airbag? (because I got that code from the airbag light)

I don't think your airbag trips a CEL. It has its own system and I don't think you can check it yourself (unless you have the eqipment/knowhow)
Mine has been on scince i bought it, so brought it to the stealership. They said for the initial scan it would be around $60. I brought it in to andther place, they said they would scan it for $40 but couldn't do work. The stealership would work on it if they didn't scan, but it would have no warentee.

Just a thought for anyone bringing it in.

I was wondering where you got that information on the code that I gave because I don't know any where saying about codes for air bag light. I never said that I threw a cel. It is my Air bag light that is blinking. When I do the "press the dome light switch seven times" I get a code , 2 long pulses one short pulse. It has nothing to do with a check engine light. There isn't any information in the faq about codes for thre air bag light.
