Who here has had problems with sprint springs?

Im heavily considering getting these springs around christmas, but my parents are a little worried of the idea of lowering springs on the car, and arent going to let me do it without some really tough convincing. So, who here has had problems with sprint springs on their cars? If you have, please tell me what the problem was, and whether it was installation related or just something with the springs.

Thanks
Chris

Sprints are TOO LOW. Lowering that much sacrifices too much suspension travel.

Also, several people have had problems with CV joints failing when lowered that much. I'm one of them.

I personally recommend Eibach and H&R springs.

No problem here. From the threads that I read, automatic Maxima's with sprint springs seem to have problems. I never heard anything about 5 spd maxes having problems with sprint springs.

I think sprint are too high for my taste. I want to change my Sprints for some Tien S tech springs, since it offers a lower drop.

Well, my priorities are obviously different than yours. I want improved handling, not just a lowered look.

And no, lower is not always better.

Good point Ben, many people I know think lower is better. I have Intrax and although it doesn't look low enough for many peoples taste, I'd never go lower. Sprint's and Tien's are lower (than Intrax) so I don't recommend them, or Intrax for that matter. Funny things is not one of my friends thought the Max was lowered.....if you want the slammed look get some coilovers, at least you could raise the car up so your CV joints don't go to h311. I'm with Ben 100% stay away from them and get Eibach or H&R, if you want a lower drop Progress springs are very nice.

I see... thanks for the replies guys. I am an auto, but Ive also seen people with autos with sprints that dont have CV problems. Eibach is personally not low enough for me, especially because Im still riding on stock shoes. Im thinking about maybe H&R now that Ive heard all of this. Any opinions on those?

I've never kept up with different threads related to failing CV with Sprints, didn't realize that was a issue. I'm a 3rd gen automatic that just installed Sprints in August 2003, no problem so far. How soon after would CV failure occur and is it mostly related to 4th gens.

I installed some Eibachs on the 97 a few weekends ago and they don't sit any higher than my H&Rs. Both springs appear to give a nice 1.7" drop in the front and 1.5" in the rear. It looks nice, especially with larger rims (17+). I've had Intrax and I'd never recommend them. They're too low, ride harsh, and bottom out too easily. Same with the Sprints. BSwithTF had Sprints on his 96 GXE auto and changed to H&Rs and is much happier with the ride quality and the more even drop.

I would not recommend anything lower than a 1.8" drop. I'd steer clear from Tein and Sprints or any other spring that offers a drastic drop. You compromise the handling, ride, and even safety when you reduce wheel travel significantly. If you want the drop and the handling, your ONLY option is true coilovers and that will cost ya big ($1000+). And I'm not talking about the Ground Control coilover sleeved crap either.

No problems with sprints here on any of our local customers' cars as well as my old '00. I guess I'm slightly partial though

i agree with ben as well. that's why i sold my sprint springs. i am going for maxspeed + GR2, it'll improve handling + get rid of my stock height. my 17s will back it up. simple suspension setup. good enough for now at least....

Sprint springs are a great temporary solution if you want the looks and the handling.
Save your money and get JIC's!

I agree with you 100% if I had to do it all over id rather go with either JIC/Tein/Cattman coilover setup. Most probably Cattman but thats just my opinion.

Regular springs & sturts for a suspension are just fine but I like it low & not too damn harsh. I belive cattman can do that but im in no hurry.

This I can totally agree with, I hoped they would settle more than they did. Front sits about 1/2" lower than the back. Maybe I should put some cinder blocks in my trunk to make that **** settle.

i LOVE MY SPRINTS ill shout it from the rooftops if you like ,what im saying is if you have ever owned a ture sports car and enjoyed the feel of the road sprint is the only spring for you and me 2 ,but if you want a nice floatie feel of luxury ,then sprint is not for you and if you have a speaker box sprints are just the right height see?

True sports cars dont bottom out on the smallest bumps. This creates very dangerous handling at the limits of traction...

if bumpstops are done the right way you dont have to worry about having enuff travel

Yes, it has. I promise.

It may have been soft, but I guarantee that you had been riding around with less than an inch of strut travel.

Reach up inside the wheel well and feel how much space there is between the top of your strut and the bumpstop (if any). You will be surprised.

Sprints/AGX here. When I was auto and now that I am 5spd.

-no cv problems
-no noises
-no rough ride
-no regrets
-

Look at that sig pic. Sits nice. I think its more of an age factor thing. If you are old, or act like your old, then dont get them. I dont think young people mind. Thats my o2.

i like the way my max rides with sprints, i gotta get new struts tho as soon as i get back from iraq. but the rear sits higher than the front. i'm thinking of cutting the rears springs and since it's not that big of a difference the ride shouldn't be that much different from the way it is now.

I never had a problem with mine. I ran them with my AGX's and loved them.

I am sure Arnaud here hasnt had a problem with my "old" Sprints as well.
