2000 Max on the Cover of Newsday

I'm not sure if anyone posted on this yet, but on the front page of Newsday (Published in Long Island & NYC) there was a black 2000 Maxima. They gave out 54 tickets, impounded 3 cars, and made 1 arrest because the guy tried to run from the cops.

So that's what goes for souped up in long island? Doesn't look very "souped up" except for the tint...don't see an intake even...and hubcaps? No wonder the po-po caught him.

NOTE: This dumb a** that ended up on Newsday does not in any way represent LI Maximas.

I know...but having previously lived in the Bronx for a couple years I had a habit of giving my buddies from LI a hard time.....wouldn't compare that idiout with anybody on the org.

What I really like is how they give you some advice on how to mod your car, at the end of the article...

how dare they lump the mighty maxima in with Honda civics though...apples and oranges. I'm surprised that they didn't mention HUGE exhaust tip noisemakers seen so often on the ricer cars.

By the way, they didn't mention why he got caught: the hubcaps and steel wheels take off 20 hp, negating the 5hp gain from the tint and clear side lights. Kind of sad, though, that apparently alot of other people got away...that means some ricers got away and the poor maxima got caught...what's up with that?

I am looking at the engine....and i cant figure out where they are getting the idea "souped up".. personally, i dont see soup, and I sure as hell dont see any mods.... Maybe they think that energizer battery is the same thing as a twin turbo....

Does anyone else think the guy on the picture looks like a deer caught in some headlights?

Hey, when you have Energizer, you have "the bunny inside"...maybe they mistook the bunny for a nitrous system....but seriously...I see no mods either. You would think if it were modded it would at least have something basic like a GAB or maybe a NISMO intake ...Maybe the journalist writing the article has never seen a real V-6.

LI Newsday (local), not Newsweek (international). I think Newsweek probably would do a little more research and taken a pic of a car with a bunch of mods like Lithiumax or others here, not a ghetto GXE with clear corners and tint. (and no, I am not saying all GXEs are ghetto

Stupidity reigns supreme. The town where they were caught racing is the same town that the Suffolk County Police Headquarters is in. I don't think it's far at all from where they were caught.

You're all right, there is nothing under the hood but stock parts. And I'm surprised they didn't put prices next to the shopping cart of mods you can do
