trying to change the knock sensor...Help!

i have all the tools that are stated on skippynet.com. I attach the flex socket(same number as on the site) and the extension (same number as on the site) and a 1/4" ratchet. I put the flex socket on the bolt of the sensor. NOW, i have been trying for like 30 min to get this bolt to turn. How is the ratchet being useful over here?? I am MOVING(not turning it in a counter-clockwise motion) the ratchet to the left (horizontally), but the flex socket is not turning at all because it is flexible. I hope you know what i mean. Can someone plz help me? I REALLY want to end this knock sensor issue that has been haunting my head for the last few months. Thanks for your responses!

Are you moving the ratchet in the right direction? You should be trying to turn the bolt counterclockwise.

If the bolt is really tight, you could try to break the bolt free first by putting a 4-5 in. long 12mm closed end wrench on it and prying with a long screwdriver, careful not to damage anything. After the bolt is sufficiently loose, you can either get the ratchet on to remove or get someone with small hands to remove it for you.

yo get a flashlight and point it at the bolt and take the extension with the flex head with i think a 14 mm socket an put it over the bolt make sure that it is on the bolt secure then put the ratchet on the extension and turn counter clockwise when it turn loose stop do not take the bolt off yet get a magnet pen so as u loosen the bolt u going to use the pen to pick up the bolt so that doesn't drop or if u could put your hand inside the hole an pull it out

yes i see what you guys mean....BUT! the thing that is bothering me is that when i turn the ratchet to the RIGHT(horizontally), the flex socket doesn't "lock up", and there is no force to give to get the bolt to turn. You know how the neck of the flex socket moves around, it is keep doing that when i move the ratchet to the RIGHT, so nothing happens to the socket itself, it doesn't move, only the neck of the flex socket does. What can i do? have you experienced this before?

What you may be describing is a socket that is not fully seated on the 12mm bolt head. Also, spray some penetrating oil ( dont use Wd40, use genuine penetrating oil), wait a few minutes. Retry

Oh believe me, i just spent another hour or so on this thing! You see, it was fully seated, but the top part of the flex socket (the neck) that is flexible, it moves up and down, left and right. It also moves in diagonals too. That is the problem. When i am turning left or right, it moves in the diagonals, you know what i mean. Try it with your flex socket if you can. I just bought it yesterday, and it's craftsman, so i don't think it is defective or anything like that. Does yours move in a circle too??

PS..i went to pepboys, and they said they would charge me $200 for just labor for the knock sensor

I have a regular 12mm socket, monted on a universal joint, attached to a 12 in extension, and finally the ratchet. I managed to crack the bolt loose with these.

When applying torque on the ratchet, the socket wants to go right and left becasue of the u-joint.I use on hand to grab on the 12 in extension and keep it from jerking right and left.
