I want a catback that has purpose
I'm looking to buy a catback that will actually give me some performance rather than jsut noise. I'm wondering waht kind of options Ihave whether it be mixed parts or a kit. What are the prices, performace gains, and waht kind of noise differneces ahve you noticed with your setup?
I would recommend a separate b-pipe and muffler setup. Get a Budget b-pipe with resonator and that will take care of that part in terms of best performance gains. Then go with a muffler with relatively good performance and price like the Dynomax Super Turbo. I can vouch for the Budget b-pipe however I still use a stock muffler. But I believe the above to be quite accurate based on other org members as well.
catbacks really give just about the same hp. Right now the best one to get is greddy sp2. If u want one with best performance, get a bpipe with NO resonators and there are a few mufflers to choose from with great gains but muffler does so little, u r probably looking at 1-2 hp difference between any one.
Before getting my obx catback i heard that resonators hurt your high end? not sure if thats true or not but just make sure whatever u get is 2.5" with no resonator (bpipe wise). Your sound may be sh*tty but that should give u the most gains from a catback. If the resonator theory is false, Greddy's and OBX are the only two brands i know with a 2.5" piping. And they both produce great sound.

for Budget Y-pipe dyno to see what kind of gains you can expect.

Be careful - if you pair a non-resonated B-pipe and just about any muffler, or a non-resonated catback with your WS Y, your exhaust will be obnoxiously loud. -Best gains, but you may grow tired of the racket. . .
usually when u get exhaust you are going for sound--there's not much hp difference to get excited about. If u can get a $300 obx cat back that sounds just as good or close to a greddy then why pay $699 for greddy when u can get a sound close enough to greddy for $300. I am not trying to dogg greddy (b/c its probably the best) but whatever i just wanted to state a financial standpoint. its ur car
This has been greatly debated. Personally I prefer a CUSTOM JOB! Get yourself a Warspeed BUdget Y-Pipe and build from there on. Maybe a hi-flo cat too. Luckily I have some decent shops around here. You can have built to your specs. Whatever size piping you want from 2 inches to 3 inches if you want. Then pair up the muffler. This way you don't order some thing to dang big. I got a Warpspeed Y-Pipe, no cat, 2.75 test pipe, glasspack, to a 60 Series Flowmaster muffler. Nothing to loud just deep and nice at the WOT. But thats what I wanted.
All comes down to personal preference.
