Which Spark Plugs and wires????

Since it's time to change these things anyways, Im looking to give my ignition an inexpensive "upgrade"


I don't care much about the cost because the plugs last like 30k

I'm going to get NGK for sure but should I get :
-Platinum
-Copper
-Iridium

-ALSO What kind of plug wires are the best?


What do you have? and What Combo should I get?

Um, you don't have spark plug wires. No Maxima from 95 on has ignition wires, they're all direct ignition with coil packs.

As for plugs, just get NGK platinums. Iridium doesn't really offer any benefits, I had Denso iridiums. Just more expensive. Coppers are cheap, but you end up having to replace them more.

 

I might not be with the majority on this one but I would recommend NGK Copper plugs. You do have to replace them more often, but that just means that you have a "new plug" more often. A new copper is always better than a slightly used platinum or iridium. The cost is also cheaper even if you factor in 3 copper plug changes for every one iridium plug change. Your car will perform better for a larger percentage of the time too, with a newer plug. So if you do not mind the extra 10 min. a couple of times a year, get the coppers.

 

I second speedemn with NGK copper plugs.

 

Ditto with the coppers. They are cheap and you can change them when you do your yearly compression check.

I say go for the coppers. They're cheap and it really doesn't take too long to change. I got my plugs at Advance Auto parts for less than $2 a plug.

 

Ask for NGK BKR5E-11. Just tell them its for a 97 altima. It makes it easier for them to find it.

 

Just curious, why do we need plugs for the altima?

Umm I bought some BKR5ES-11, will those work....

 

Its listed as a plug for the altima and not for the maxima in they're system. Not too sure of the technological part of it is.

 

I went to the NGK website and they are listed there for a maxima 95-99. I hope they work.
