strange problem with gas pedal

when i press down on the gas pedal, after about half way, i can feel a slight restriction in the pedal and i have to press slightly harder to get past it, but when i do, the revs get stuck and keep growing even if i release the the pedal. the pedal is smooth before and after the restriction, and when i take my foot off it releases normally, but its as if i never let go and the revs just keep going up. the only way to get it to stop is to tap the pedal. i know this is not the best explenation, but i really dont know how to explain it. if any one has any questions or helpful insight, please let my know. thanks.

your throttle cable pulley is getting caught on on something, probably from a hoseclamp on your intake...Get under the engine bay and check it out!

i just had a new tranny and clutch put in today, and the guy said that there was a clamp that was used to hold up the intake and it got bent and he couldnt put it back in, so that might be in the way.

im taking it back to the same mechanic on friday, but i just wanted to get some answers before.

also, i have one other quesiton. my spedometer and odometer also do not work (yay free miles :P) before i left the shop tonight, i noticed it and had the mechanic take a quick look at it. he said everything was properly conected (he is also gonna check that out on friday) but does anyone have any idea what this problem could be?

thanks.

yeah you have a diickhead mechanic...take it somewhere else cuz this guy isnt using lube while he's fuucking you in the @ss...

serioulsy though, any dude who puts in a new clutch and tranny, and causes your speedo and tach to not work cant be a genius, and why would he not replace a clamp on your intake if it got bent? thats kind of neccesary Check your intake, i will bet a hose clamps hitting the throttle cable...

lol. thanks for the quick response. ill check that out tommorow.

as for the intake clamp. its this thin piece of metal that is right under the cone filter. its not really a clamp, jsut something to hold the intake up. ill figure this all out on friday when i take it in. thanks again.
