Rookie lookin for suggestions

Heya All!!!

Kevin here, new to the group and new to the Maxima and lovin it. I've had it for just over a month and I'm lovin it completely. I'm looking to make some sublte mods to it and am open to suggestion. Just lookin to boost performance and handling and some cosmetic changes. What's a good place to start? What parts would you suggest?

Welcome guys! For the most part there are many nice org members to help you with your newbie questions-

I would suggest you buy a Front Strut Tower Brace
You can get them for under $50 and they improve your turning and tighten up your front suspension

A Rear Sway Bar is also a great mod to keep the rear beam suspension from skipping around during
aggresive cornering/turning- I should be installing mine soon

like MannyNJ2k2max said ,FSTb, rsb is must for tighter handling. and start off with a intake ( for performance), drop(spring and strut for better looks handling and looks), tint and call a day.

Nice...Thanks for the suggestions, I'll definitely look into tightening the suspension. And the intake was definitely a place that I was looking to start, as well as exhaust and maybe new a new header. Oh, by the way, I have been searching for specifics, but it's damn overwhelming with all the posts in here . I was also looking at stillen.com and am considering this http://www.stillen.com/Sportscars_de...d=28333&page=1

I'm sportin an auto, so not sure what the limitations are and what experience people have had with different manu's. I'm not looking to fail inspection, but definitely want to boost it up a bit

I would suggest getting tint - as dark as your state allows, or if you are a careful driver and can look out for cops, darker. Tint make the car come together, IMHO. Tint is ~$150-200. Don't pay more for tint, it makes no sense.

Second, I would get some clear side markers, and new bulbs (optional). The rear red markers are OK, but the front orange ones are butthurt and need to go, so you might as well change the back ones, too. You can keep your stock bulbs, or get hyper white (not blue.. that's asking for trouble) bulbs to make it look even nicer at night. This is about a $50 mod.

Next, I would probably do a suspension swap. Depending on what parts you want, you can spend anywhere from ~$350-1500+, on new struts/springs and completely adjustable coilovers, respectively. I suggest getting new springs AND struts, as riding on your stock struts with aftermarket springs is not advised.

After that it's up to you. Intakes don't really gain much in terms of performance, but they do sound great (especially the FrankenCar hybrid intake). Front Strut Tower Bars (FSTB's) and Rear Sway Bars (RSB's) are considered to be great, relatively cheap mods that help the suspension a lot (especially the RSB's), but I would rather spend my money on a new suspension, as I think it not only improves handling more than the FSTB/RSB combination, but also makes the car look a lot better.

Welcome to the ORG.

one thing I forget to say check if the pre owner did the lack of power TSB or any tsb. It big really impronment in the engine. http://maxima.theowensfamily.com/tsb/NTB03-023.pdf or you can spend money on the techno square ECU uprade.

NHMaximan,
Welcome. Best mod you can make is the one between your ears.
Pay the $20-25 donation and get the ability to search. Then get a case of mountain dew and you can find hundreds of threads just like this one. This will of course lead to more searches.
You will save the $20 x 10-100 in not making very many mistakes

FSTB and RSB for the first mod. I personally don't like clear corners

What do you think of this front strut bar? Seems too cheap but if you think about it all it really is, is a metal bar and 2 pieces of metal. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2449507331

I actually think it looks sorta nice. Who knows about the quality though. Iv'e been told that generic "Ebay MotorSports" parts are as a general rule

Best $20 I've spent on my car. There is so much good info available to you when you have the ability to search.
