why do most 2000-01 maxima GXEs have leather?

why do most 2000-01 maxima GXEs have leather? I think they are GXE's because of no fogs, the cheap wheels but leather. I saw so many around illinois and it looked like it was factory leather. another question, why do 2000-01 maxima SE and GLE have the same wheels. How much was the package for the SE 17" wheels?

how come when you get a maximka fixed they always put the wrong door handles and the wrong badging on the back? Sometimes this might acually be a ood thing. but i notice that an awful lot.

GXE's only get leather installed after purchase, they all come with cloth. Might be mislabeled or a afterpurchase install

In the early production, 5th gen GXE and GLE had the same wheels. On the outside, the only difference were fogs and badging on the GLE.

I have GXE, and no leather, I think you are indeed mistaking the GLE and GXE.

Well, when i went to a store, I saw a GXE, yes GXE with lkeather. I know it was a GLE because it had those wheels, no fogs, and no BOSE after I took a peek. I think the dealer has something to do with this. When I bought my durango, there were other new ones with grille guards, running boards, and tail light guards and they charged extra for it. Also, when I bought my 2003 Maxima, while shopping I saw a GXE with leather. It was a 2003 and had white, blue, and red leather. I think it was like a valvoline edition maxima. They also had it on an altima. I think the people who buy the car can have a special order. If anyone's from Chicago, did you see any of these cars with the leather at STAR Nissan? Because it was a 2003 GXE with leather. Also, before I bought my max, I went to a toyota dealer to see the camry and it was an LE with leather interior. Yes the LE's don't come with leather but the leather was like yellow. I asked the salesman and he said that the person who was going to buy it, ordered it with a deposit and didn't want it anymore. So just like the 2003 GXE with red, white, and blue leather, I think it was special ordered. Or compared with the durango, I think the dealer put a little aftermarket leather on the 2003 GXE. Maybe this happened to most 2000-2001 GXEs?

Well it had to be a special order or dealer aftermarket install, and BTW all GLE's from start of production to Jan 03 Production has fogs. Early GLE's had those ugly hub cap looking rims and they were an option on the GXE (as some had a nasty looking hubcap) and early SE's had the 5 spoke rims that became standard on late production 2000 GLE's. The 17 inchers 6 spoke came later in production as standard equipment on the SE and to confuse you even further the few 02/03 GXE's made had the 00/01 5 spoke rims and the 02/03 GLE's had a totally different nice looking 17 inch polished rims. The 02/03 SE had a restyled 6 spoke 17in rim with a slightly different spoke design and no center cap. I hope his helps, the 00/01 GXE rims, 97-99 GXE rims and the 85-86 Maxima rims had to be the ugliest stock rims ever put on the Max.

I have a GXE w/ leather

Why do I have one? Because A brand new, 0 mile, 5speed GXE cost me $19700 compared to $25000 for a new SE. Then with the money saved, get an aftermarket leather package installed by the dealer for $900.

5-spoke 16" rims became standard issue on GLE's built after dec/99 until MY2002's began. MY2002-2003's GXE also has these wheels.

17" rims became available in MY2000 after june/99 on SE's with C&C package.

MY2000-2001 GXE's without C&C package came with 205/65R15's on 15" steel rims w/ 7spoke hudcaps.

MY2002-2003 SE's have 6spokes without the centercap while GLE's get machined aluminum 7spokes.

What the hell is a Valvoline edition Maxima?? That has to be something the dealer cooked up to make some cash on an aftermarket leather setup. But red, white and blue? Sounds very odd.....
