About to do needed front end job...

Replacing control arm bushings(in bad shape) and
installing new struts(4) ...

I know many typically install lowering kits as well
but my inclination is not to lower my vehicle any
more than it is(Not interested in trolling NYC streets).

Any feedback as to:
1. Why I need to swop or replace springs too?
2. Are there other components I need to buy or have at hand
or you would consider replacing while doing job?
3. Afterwards install plus upgrade to 16" wheel/tire plus alignment.

 

Can't really answer your question, but thought I'd say I'm with you on not lowering my max..I'd be without an undercarriage on the streets around here..potholes that already have caddilacs in them with volkswagens on top of them and a few Chinese people comming out around them..

 

Strut mounts I'd recomend replacing at the same time.

 

just leave the old springs

and do the strut mounts like said above and strut bearings and get new strut boots if your new struts dont have them

I say leave them too. Springs don't have a replacement interval unless they're sagging or otherwise damaged.

While you've got everything apart and you're headed towards a wheel alignment anyway, check the balljoints too.

id say maybe replace the springs, with oems. id also say replace the shocks springs with new performance setup. you can get it to mactch the height level as the oem, but for handling and all that stuff its better than the oem's. but the oems do justice for the ride quality. youll notice a vast improvement. just depends on the application

 

Do the front end work.

Get Koni's & Eibachs, send your CA's to Matt to have the bushings replaced, then get his lower tie bar, a strut brace and the ST sway bar kit and you'll be golden.

 

Dave... everyone isn't as rich and financially 'solvent' as you. Let him start off a bit at a time...
