Questions On Lowering 5th Gen.

  • Do You Have to change the struts when lowering?
  • What is a good drop?
  • What type of springs? (Maxspeed?)
  • What kind of struts (if needed) should I get? (TOKICO HP STRUTS?)

THANX FOR YOUR ADVICE IN ADVANCE!

i thought you would know the answer to that with all the posting you do here.

personally i just got H&R springs with the GR2s since i did not want the slammed looked. everybody says to get the shocks and springs at the same time so i wouldnt just get springs. everything else is going to be a personal preference. i should have them installed within the next month. wish i could tell you how they feel.

I got Teins lowering springs a couple weeks ago (2.2 front, 1.6 back) and a couple minutes ago i ordered KYB GR-2 struts... most people has GR-2 with their
teins... thats why i got GR-2!!! I think Teins and Sprints are the best out there... i mean nice drop!!

Maximapolak the chinese dude from CT meet has maxspeed and he doesnt like it (the drop its near to stock)... he wants to get Teins springs!!!

I gave you the site from an .org member that he got tein with gr-2... awsome drop right?

Why is it high;y recommended?
I can keep the Stock struts, and install new springs?
If i can I can always change the struts later.

I have both products i spoke of. You will wear out your stock struts mach faster and have a harsher ride because the stock struts arent designed for the spring rates of lowering springs. I tried it and it didnt last long so i went to the Tokicos and lived happily ever after.

No,but you'll wear out your stock struts much faster.
1.5 so you don't really need an alignment.(IMHO)
I got H&R(better than stock ride, soon to be change to Eibach for a firmer).
I got GR2,but Tokico are as good.(IMHO)

I'm riding on H&R springs. The ride is excellent. This combo gives me a good balance of handling and comfort. I find it smoother than the stock SE over expansion strips and bumps.

Yeah for 2k-2k1,it'll work on 2k2-2k3,but you'll have to zip tie one of the ABS sensor's gourmet to the front strut, you'll see it when you install it.

You NEED alignment for sure. The toe setting will definitely change whenever you unbolt the knucles from the struts.
