I don't think he ever knew what hit him.
He comes up from behind me and slows down next to me, then accelerates away. I come up alongside him at the next light and give him a friendly hello. He just smirks. I was going to turn right at the light to go home, but his cocky smirk really irritated me. So the light turns green and he gets a bit of a head start on me. I'm not sure he thought I was racing, yet, but when he hears my tires breaking loose in first gear he guns it and gains on me. I shift into second, catch him and by the time I shift into third at 7000 rpm it's all over except for the crying. I slow down to see if he wants to chat but he turns into a neighborhood street. Loser.

A kill on a SN95/Foxbody mustang GT isnt really much to brag about. If it was a newer (99-up) GT, then your taking down a 13.9-14.2 ish second car. SN95's and such can only hit 15.0-15.3ish (given driver/conditions). Foxbodys are even slower...

GT doesen't mean 5.0.
My girlfriend has an 89 mustang GT 5.0 body (the 25th anniversary edition) with a stock four cylinder in it. The exhaust leak makes it sound like it's got some *****, but the car is a POS. You'd be amazed at how many people, especially mustang enthusiasts, are shocked to find out it's got a little 4 banger in it instead of one of their big bad V8s.

I assume there isnt any GT badging. The body i can believe, just not GT badging.
Similar to the GTS i believe, which had the 5.0 in a 4cyl body...

Yes, I'm running 10 psi with MEVI and extended redline. That's what I was getting at when I said the GT driver didn't know what hit him.

Yeah, i figured you were forced induction/nitrous if you were beating a 99-up GT. I was just hoping you werent wasting you time and gas on a SN95/foxbody, then bragging about it

I hang out with two guys that own 01 GT 5 speeds with 4.11 gears, headers, exhaust, UDPs, and drag radials. They both run 13.8-14.1@98-101mph depending on conditions. With drag radials, I could be uncomfortably close to their ETs.

I typically out react most of my Mustang opponents at the track which makes it appear like I'm beating them worse than I really am, but on the street reaction time becomes part of the equation and that's why mid 14-second cars can beat higher 13-second car on the street. I've also beaten a few 96-99 Cobras at my track, but don't tell Craigy because he'd never believe it.

. I guess it really comes down to driver/conditions/car. Driver being the biggest factor. Ive seen a brand new EVO run consistent (!!!!) 15.0+ runs at the track, never once breaking a 14.5. Sad. Your friends should be seeing slightly better numbers than those, especially with drag radials.Oh, on a sidenote, craig thinks his precious cobra is the fastest car in the world, boy, hes gonna have a surprise come his way next time i go up to o-town and defeat his snake with a car that was originally supposed to replace that piece

I agree, driver is very important. My friends are two of the quickest 99+ GTs at the track for thier mods. Most guys are in the 14.4-14.6@96-97mph range in the thier 99 GTs at my track. I am at a slight elevation (1100') which does account for a couple tenths and some mph.
I've got $5 saying Craig will run a 15.4@93mph on his first pass and I highly doubt he'll do better than a 14.8 by the time he's done racing for the day. Of course that's assuming he ever gets his butt to the track. He's lives in FL and can race at a sea level track all year round. What in the hell?

Yeah, craig told me today to expect a 13.4@106mph from him. Im laughing inside because he will have no idea how to launch that car. He will never get his butt to the track because deep down hes scared. He knows he doesnt know but how to drop the car a gear and hit the accelerator (and hes not very good at that either
) so he knows he'll embarass himself at the track. I will probably have to accompany him to the track and teach him how to drive his car...
