H&R springs ruining struts?

I have H&R springs. When I first put them on, my ride was noticably rougher (2 years ago or so), but not the bone jarring hit I feel now when running over a good bump or hole. Handling is great, but big hits just are not absorbed properly. I feel that the lowering of the car may have caused premature failure of the struts. Do you all agree?

Do I need to get some Tokico's??

I had the same problem with my H&R's. I changed out the rear shocks with KYB AGX's but could not afford the fronts, also been waiting for someone to come out with front shocks for our cars the GR-2's but there not adjustable. So I just put modified KYB AGX's on the front after the pounding drove me nuts. I had stock shocks with H&R's for over a year till they finally gave out. After the install I wish I would have done it a while ago. The car rides great with this combo. Also these shocks are adjustable all the way around.

I'm about to install some KYB AGX's... if you could rate the improvement over the dead stock struts from 1 - 10 with the KYB AGX's on their softest setting, what would it be? Do you think the cost of the struts is justified? After a year of Eibachs + Houston roads, I'm to the point where my soul gets rattled everytime I go somewhere.

Factory shocks aren't designed to be used with lowering springs, if you would have searched you would know this....

I have H&R with KYB GR2 on my 2003. As far as i'm concerned, the ride is better than the stock suspension set up.

As far as rating this set up, I'm very happy with the ride characteristics. Firm but not jarring. Stiff and responsive not floaty like stock. You have to be the judge. If there is someone local look him up. This set up is very common. Try Mike at Import Parts Distributor in PA. at 800 488 3618. I got my AGX's in 3 days. They have to be modified if you have a 2002 and above. I purchased the fronts for around $235 plus shipping. Im in NJ NY area where driving encounters all types of road conditions.

When people claim that their ride is smooth It confuses me because i think the stock set-up is pretty smooth. How much better could it possibly get from lowering . Please clarify.
