Gauges, turn signals and windows not working

I have 97 Maxima that just started having problems. When you start it there is no power to any of the dash gauges (RPMs, turn signals, temp., Etc.) along with the power windows. Once running for five or ten minutes, power to all clicks on. I drove it the other night with no gauges and lights started dieing out along with that the power was not there. Then the gauges clicked on and the lights got brighter and power seemed to be restored to the engine. Sounds like the alternater maybe doesnt work when first started, but why wouldnt the power windows work? The only code I pulled was 0705 which I believe is EVAP Control System(totally different problem I think).
Please Help...Chris

Change your alternator, and charge your battery. Alternators can do weird things when they go bad...... besides they arent too expensive.

my .02 cents
