Weight Reduction ?

I was just reading the article about the Maxima in Modified Magazine that is running 12.1's. I know the issue is old and I have had it since it came out but I was just reading over it again and it started to make me really think. The article said alot of the reason he is running 12.1's is because he got his weight down to 2750lbs. from 3100lbs. which is stock for a 95'. My goal has always been to get the weight down on my car from stock 3100lbs to that of about a preludes (i.e 2760lbs. depending on what year.) Now that I have seen that it is possible without changing too much in the cab area, I am wondering how. I know about the CF hood, and of course racing seats and taking already existing parts such as taking the spare in the trunk out, but does anyone know how to lose weight drastically. Does anyone have a list or something of what the guy in Modified Magazine did to his. If anyone can give any advice it is appreciated greatly. Anthing that anyone knows of to reduce weight would help. Thanks.

You could probably get the car below 2000lbs with some drastic cutting. Here's tips that are still streetable.

My car weighs 2780 with the passenger seat out. You would never know i weight reduced, its all about going after the small weight. I dont have a carbon hood or trunk yet but i probably will in 2004 that will probably bring me around 2730. And im working on aluminum bumpers, prob bring me into the high 26's,maybe that 35lbs of air cond will come off and put me around 2650.Another thing im trying to get is two piece brake rotors cross drilled oem size. Thats my weght reduction plans for the next year or so . I will stop when im in the 2500,s.

Here is a list of the things that I did that made the largest change.

1. Front and rear bumper crash protection, just unbolts.
2. Sound deadening under the carpets, chisels off.
3. Lighweight battery, 13 lbs
4. Seats, 12 lbs and cheap too from Summit, around $50.
5. Tires and wheels, my slick and front wheel combo weighs approx 22 lbs, rear is 25 lbs ea
6. Metal support behind rear seat.

My 12.1 time also came with full interior, minus of course the sound deadening under the carpet and its also an auto so a bit heavier there as well. I still have stock hood and trunk but thinking about making a lighweight fiberglass one for next year.

The biggest gains though come from having NX installed, I get over 1.5 seconds in the 1/4 mile with just a 35 shot.
