Is your Maxima loaded, or a striper?
Is your Maxima loaded, or a striper?
Just wondering how common the various options are. The post about the ABS problem got me thinking. My 1994 GXE was ordered ?by the dealer? with the lux package-Power seats, sunroof, bose cd and leather package. But no ABS. I think ABS was about a 900 dollar option, so I can understand why it was left off. I had a friend at school that had a 90 GXE with no options, and the headroom without sunroof was amazing, and the cloth/velour seats were really nice. Just wondering how common the options were? If I had been buying new, I think I could have been happy with a basic version, with just a CD player. Maybe a base SE VE 5 speed, no sunroof, cloth interior, no abs with just a CD player.
Anybody ever have a SE with the tweed cloth, or a GXE with the digital gauges? How about the sony dealer installed CD player for the Bose cassette system?
94 GXE, black, tan interior, Lux package-S/R, bose cd, power seats, Leather package. No abs.

1990 SE
a broken 5-speed
cloth interior (love it much more over leather)
sunroof that i don't want
had the blose stereo with no cd player (wouldn't want it since it was a sony)
charcoal pearl color (wouldn't trade it for anything. i love this color now)
abs that no longer works because i'm too cheap to buy a sensor and can't find the one that is broken for me to fix...
spoiler that is coming off
they all seem to be downsides or i have complaints about them but i still love the car.

cloth (bettar than leather), bose but no cd, no power seats, no airbags, abs, spoiler, sunroof. IMO, the no airbag steering wheel > *
edit: teh 4 spoke steering wheel, not shawns ghey triangle with a circle welded onto it.
edit2: black, black cloth

Anton, the steering wheel on my white car is not origonal. that is a 89-91 (maybe 94) GXE wheel. No SE's ever came with that wheel.
Also both cars were Dealer Installed Black Leather

Both of my 92 Maximas have been SE 5-speeds with black factory leather, dual power seats, Bose tape deck and a roof. My first one came with ABS, my current one is sans ABS. Neither of them had an airbag, either. I think that was kind of a spendy option in 92.
Does anyone have the original window sticker? I would like to see the option "packages." Usually, they bundle things together.
MrGone -- since you have a 5-speed, technically your white car isn't "fully loaded." To be fully loaded, you would have to have: AT, roof, airbag, ABS, leather, dual power seats and CD player (not sure about CD in 92). All of those options are more expensive than the alternative to them.
BTW Timmy. I think you have to be in New Zealand to have a factory fold down rear seat...

Chris- The only things I dont have are Power seats, SRS (air bag) and the auto tranny. I do have the bose, however it is not installed
I dont want power seats because they take forever to move if say your taking out the center console or something, plus they add weight. Auto tranny, well that was standard, the 5spd was optional so HA! and air bags, I wish I had them, but seeing as my old one didnt even go off in my accident, I'm fine with out them.
I have a sunroof, abs (which Now I'm used to working under the hood with and am glad I have it... even though it doesnt work), heated power mirrors, and I forget what else comes factory because I only really care about modifying crap (but you already knew that
).
It's great because people go "oh you have this" and it will be something I completely forgot about.
Also, does anyone know if digital climate control was a option for SE's?

I was wondering about the climate control, too, along with mud guards and rear window defrost --often times those come in a "weather package."
Do 3rd gens have heated seats as an option? My 95 Pathfinder had it and I really liked it. Unfortunately, my Infiniti doesn't have that option.
I think I read somewhere that all SEs have the heated mirrors.
Auto trannies are the option -- they cost more than manual, even if most of the vehicles have an AT. The current (6th gen) Maxima is the same price for either tranny, but AT is standard.

People pick on some cars, they special order them. Here is what I have and you will be in shock.

Mine doesn't have mudguards, but it DOES have a rear window defroster. If I'm not mistaken, ALL 3rd gen Maximas have rear window defrosters.
ME = 93 SE, cloth manual seats (recently made into power), no ABS, no moonroof, heated mirrors, Bose cassette w/o CD (totally swapped out for 5.1 multimedia "monster").
I got the following info from Bryan Tisch's webpage, which might help clear up SOME of the option questions:

- stronger transmission for VG30E
- plastic bezel around the radio/climate control changed in that there are no screws above the radio to remove.
- new steering wheels for each model.
- New mesh grille with Nissan logo.
- Black rear gone, SE's have read rear lenses with a slight lens design change.
- VE30DE DOHC engine generating 190 hp and 190 ft lbs of torque

- speedometer to 145 mph, tachometer to 6700 rpm redline
WHEW!!!
1992 SE W/ heated mirrors...which I've used only once...kinda worthless IMO. I'd rather have power Mirrors. I have the 'Tweed' cloth, its pretty comfy.
My steering wheels leather is wearing off, has anyone had theirs rewrapped?

I want my heated mirror back.
This car doesn't have it
got the car with a demolished drivers mirror and replaced it with a regular non-heated one because that's what was in the yard.

Turdlett, heated mirrors are standard on 92-94 SEs. Notice the things on Mizerees window sticker under "standard equipment" for an SE.

Quick question about the alarm, I have the security light on the dash that goes on when I lock the doors, etc. Whenever I lock the doors and open up the lockf rom the inside, though, the alarm doesn't go off. I just assumed that I didnt have it, but is it just not working?

hmm, must not be working. Either that, or you didn't wait long enough. You have to wait like 30-60 seconds (I forgot which) for the alarm to set.
On mine, I can roll down a window, set the alarm (shut and lock the doors) then unlock it and open it and it will go off. I have to stick the key in the door for it to stop.
