Quick question about the alarm, I have the security light on the dash that goes on when I lock the doors, etc. Whenever I lock the doors and open up the lockf rom the inside, though, the alarm doesn't go off. I just assumed that I didnt have it, but is it just not working?
its probably working just fine..if after 30 seconds it goes off, its activated..now, if you unlock it from the outside by reaching in the window and pulling the lock up, that will set it off if its working, BUT, if you lock the door with the door open while you're sitting in the car, shut the door, wait for the security light to turn on solid and then turn off after 30 sec, and lift the lock, it will NOT set it off..on my car atleast, there is a sensor under each seat with 2 wires connected to it, and if you disconnect those, you will set the alarm off from the inside doing what I described above..

Now..I'm the second owner of a 1992 GXE, my uncle was the first owner:

-beige cloth seats(wish I had leather)
-rear window defroster
-non-bose cassette
-heated power side mirrors (LOVE the heat feature)
-ABS
-airbag
-power antenna
-alarm
-analog guages
-manual climate control
-disc brakes ALL AROUND (this was not an after-sales change, neither myself or my uncle changed them)
-no mudguards, but it looks like they were a bolt-on addition with all holes already made, so they could be installed at any time..
-keyless entry on door handles
-probably a few other things I can't remember..

dibs on your car when/if you feel its time to 'move on'
plus I'm semi local I want that climate control sooo badly lol. I have a spare, I'll trade (I know... You Me)

also your end link reinforcentment, really awesome idea, however it will only work on one side, the other side the bolts are backwards, unless maybe you find another one like that side from another car or something.

I think ABS was about a 900 dollar option, so I can understand why it was left off. I had a friend at school that had a 90 GXE with no options, and the headroom without sunroof was amazing, and the cloth/velour seats were really nice. Just wondering how common the options were? If I had been buying new, I think I could have been happy with a basic version, with just a CD player. Maybe a base SE VE 5 speed, no sunroof, cloth interior, no abs with just a CD player. Anybody ever have a SE with the tweed cloth, or a GXE with the digital gauges? How about the sony dealer installed CD player for the Bose cassette system?

94 GXE, black, tan interior, Lux package-S/R, bose cd, power seats, Leather package. No abs.

right, UNLESS you push the "unlock" button..if you just lift up on the lock it should set it off..

Everything but....

Luggage Rack, ABS and 5 spd tranny but probably would have had it if my mom knew how to drive stick but again the car was at a used dealer when we bought it back in 1990 and it is a 1990 whatever.

Even though it was brand new they considered it used, maybe someone on this board knows the works of a dealer can fill me on that gibbirish.

BTW Digital Dash's suck a s s they are nothing but pure crap they are worthless we have a digi dash and it has NEVER worked for us yeah it did work back in 1990 but i think it went out on use 3 years from then and then we went out to the local dealer in Bellevue and payed 900 bucks to get a brand new one installed and ha ha go figure it poops out on us 2 weeks later.

Accurate mileage is all screwed up now thank you much.

I dont like this censoring thing it kinda bugs me. lol

Sure, I'll go and saw off the whole front end of a junker and mail it to you!

Thanks for the input on that. Yes one thing that I should have mentioned was that you would need to pull a second link off a wreck or something. I'm going to post this up here in a proper thread, but I'm waiting on someone to get back to me first.
