How many of you installed a Glass/Shock Sensor to Stock Alarm?

http://www.vqpower.com/v2/modules.ph...howpage&pid=13

I was thinking of doing this because it's cheap.. but i was wondering what others might have to say about this mod.

it seems like a lot of work and i really don't want to mess around with the electricals. but if someone who is experienced is offering to install for some $$, i'll think about it.

I used this page as a guide:

http://www.rcreations.com/public/CoD...e,0t,P=30.html

I should have done it before my car got broken into, but oh well. I got two sensors for $5 off eBay.

I'm pretty sure I can do it, but I hate if my alarm will start going off just from some thunder and $hit.

OMG the link thing is like 10 times easier then the one on the vqpower. And it's pretty cheap, on the second though I might do it. Some b|tches keep on hitting my car infront of my work all the time.

This is easier then my alarm beep (lol)!!! Question though will it work if someone will try to sit on my car or something?

It's easy all you do is tap into the grond wire on the hood opener. If the car gets hit it closes the circuit and makes the car think that hood was opened!!! SMART!!!

Yo quick tip to the newbies instead of keeping on replying all the time one time after another use the "edit" button to add or change stuff that you have already posted

it keeps the thread alot shorter, and easier to read

Good idea but once something triggers the sensor, ur horns not gonna stop beepin until u turn it off...:-/ What if your in school in a class, or in the mall where ur distant from your car? It'd be perfect if it shuts itself up after a minute or so

See that's another project. I pretty sure you can get some timer thing that will open the circuit on the alarm and just shut it off. But I'm not going to check for it right now

Unless maxima's stock alarm already got the timer on it, I can't tell because I will get *****ed at by all my neighbors for having my alarm on for more that a minute

I would think that It would- my moms old mazda mx-6 went loud for about a min then went quiet and still flashed the lights. It might be like that.

Pull the button to unlock the hood (don't open it) and set the alarm. When the alarm is set, open the hood and see when the alarm shuts up

If you put it under the hood, then your front will be more sensitive than the rear. I'm planning on hooking it up behind the dash like the VQPower one It's the same thing since they're connecting it to the hood switch wire, but it's more to the middle of the car so the front is not that sensitive than the rear.

I got 2 sensors from eBay too. Paid about $5 for one, but the seller sent two

keep us posted on how things go with that. I would love to do that mod if the horn can actually stop after 2-3 mins of beeping.
and tell us how long it took you and if it was easy or not.
