this is weird - yesterday during NYE celebration i was flashing my headlights
quite a bit but to my most suprise i lost my fogs !!! did some troubleshooting
today and i'm still stomped what could be the cause,

here's what i have checked so far:
My fogs are rewired to side marker lights,

-H3 bulbs are ok,
-checked the fuses inside engine comp
-checked the relay on the right side of eng comp where the rewire starts from-
even got the relay box open and checked all the conections inside
-switched the fog relay with horn relay - that didnt help either
-checked all conections from the side marker
-backprobed the fog connectors and there was no voltage present ,

the "clicking" sound when rewired fogs are turned on is not present
so the problem has to be somwhere in the relay area,

question - do relays go bad ??? , just like fuses ?
what controls the fogs besides the relay on right side of the engine ?

anybody with similar experience ?

BTW headlights, side marker , parking lights work fine .

 

So, you DID do the fog light re-wire MOD?

 

yes my fogs are rewired - everything worked fine till i started to flash my headlights yesterday

 

same problem here...

haven't gotten the chance to trouble shoot yet...hopefully it's an easy fix.

 

did you also flash your headlights few times and rewired fogs quit working ?

Just a thought here guys, but deos anyone knowhow to test the switch or head'fog light stalk on the column. No signal from the stalk would mean no relay action. Right?

Where is your relay located? Try checking if your getting voltage into the relay. If it does have voltage coming in then remove relay and give it a few taps and reinstall. (i have friends that had problems with their relay sticking).

well i removed the relay , checked for voltage and voltage of 12volts is present , tapped the relay , reinstalled and still no fogs !!!!

what else could be preventing voltage from reachin fog lights ????

if you are gettin 12v, then it would most likely be your ground. I don't think that relays go bad, they work with the voltage. Not to sure exactly the scientifics of it, but.... On your relay, it is numbered 1+2 and 3+5. 3+5 are what turns the lights on, when 3 gets 12v's then the open circuit between 3+5 closes, thus turning the lights on. I didn't read all of the posts but try this if it wasn't already said.... Run a 12'v wire off your battery to the number 3 or 5 circuit whichever you spliced into, then see if your relay works, you should here it click. If that doesn't work then it must be a ground or something. Take your voltometer, and set it to the position that looks like an arrow with lines through it. You can test your grounds by touching one of the leads on the voltometer to the ground, it should read 0. Sorry if im confusing you but electric in itself is very confusing to most people. PM me if you need me to better explain.

Hayens manual shows how to test relays with jumper wires and voltmeter.

lets try some simple logic here - my fogs are rewired to parking lights - i have flashed the headlights atleast 50 times - what is the simple first part of the circuit that would fail in that scenario ? could be h3 bulbs/ steering column switch / fuses/ fusible links - if any / bad ground/ or what ....

i'm much much more mechanically inclined than electrically and finding the problem in electrical circuits just knocks me out cold.
