Appropriate tire pressure
Appropriate tire pressure
I've got 235/45/17 tires on 17/7.5 wheels. It says 35PSI maximum pressure, but it neither feels nor looks right. I adjusted it to 38PSI, and it feels already better. I know that low profile tires need higher pressure, so my question is how high can I safely go?
You should never exceed the pressure marked on the sidewall of the tire. Ever.
Measure the pressure when the tire is cold.
I don't know how they decide tire pressures when plus sizing, but I would ask the shop. There should be a chart where they can look it up to see how much pressure over stock you should run I think. This isn't something that you should just do by "look"....
