Who has an Alpine head unit on their 93 max? problem with fitting.

Well, I installed an Alpine head unit on my car but the surrounding piece doesn't fit because of the plastic covering around the stereo and climate controls, etc. Does anyone know how I can make this fit? Here is a pic. I need to fit the surrounding piece. And also, the dash covering is bulging by the climate controls.

i got one check out my cardomain site its in my sig, i had no problems gettin it to fit. Its an aftermarket stereo so it isnt gunna fit exactly perfect but its pretty close u may if i recall have to make sure non of the harness wires are bucnhing up in the back.I also have my DVD player right below it that may have some issues with it fitting better and those pics dont do it justice its actually flush with the front. theres a small .5" gap between the 2

our radio slots are ISO-DIN style, while most aftermarket units are standard DIN style..you can't get the trim ring to fit without building a custom mounting braket for the H/U and stick it out about 1/4"-1/2"..

Mine seems to fit in there. I was lazy and had the shop I bought it from install it, though. I think they put the stereo in (with the surround on it) from behind and used brackets to bolt it in.

yep thats what they did.. I know standard trim rings don't fit if you use the factory mounting brackets and put it in like you're really supposed to..

Mine is still bolted in, they just used different brackets. It is a nice install, really. The HU is just about flush with the cup holder thing. This is the second Alpine HU (first was an older 7840) and they were both mounted the same way. The first by Magnolia Hi-Fi, the second from a custom shop in my town.

I have an alpine head but I work at Circuit City and got free installation. But they had to change the wiring harness and needed to make a custom bracket to hold it in there properly. It came out great, sounds beautiful with my alpine speakers.

I did a head unit installation myself for my maxima and my friend's 91 camry, and on both of them , the ring will not fit unless you trim your plastic surroundings, which I do not recommend since it will ruin the factory look, plus, if you're not careful, you can cut your finger or make the damn thing looks even worst. If you're gonna do it, I recommend taking your time and sand it down to size, which will make it look bevelled and rounded. Just my two cents. For my car though, I just do without the ring, didn't find much use to it.

I just left mine off too..looks just fine..not sure how my new h/u is gonna look..I ordered a Kenwood KDC-MPV622..its lighter colored than my pioneer, which is dark charcoal grey/pewter, almost black..If I were to decide to put a neon trim ring on, I would probably shave a little off with a power file or a drum sander bit for a drill..

either that or gets some of those flexible neon wires and put it where the spaces are, and connect the power source to the cig. lighter if you know what you're doing, then its a new cd player and a "mod" all in one. lol

yeah I guess I could do that..and it would be a lot easier than shaving the plastic..but, thats just theoretical anyway..I have other priorities over neon trim around my CD player..

my alpine 7873 fits with no problems. no gapping on the side, no need for the trim ring.

well just take off the dash piece, hold the container down, and put the trim ring on, you have to make the bottom of the trim ring sit on top of the container underneath, thats what i did, mine looks perfect, its not hard

there is no need for the trim ring anyway..there shouldn't be a gap around a full sized DIN radio..

I've got an old alpine CD in mine. It does have about 1/8 - 1/4" gap around the edge.
But hey for a $1.62 who's complaining
oops forgot the 11.99 for the antannae adapter.
