can't seem to beat 2.3 60'???

i have a 2k3 auto... on stock potenzas..... for some reason i can't seem to get better than a 2.3 60' time.... i think i've seen people get in the 2.2s and maybe even a 2.1 (?)... but no matter what i do.. i can't do it... i've tried launching several different ways with different psi's..... is this normaL? do the people who get lower, is it because of tires or what?

hahahaha....it took me longer then most to learn how to pull low 2.2 and high 2.1 60's. I read all the posts about lauching techniques and such but it was just a matter of practice.

Yep, it's all about practice, every car is different, and every track hooks differently. It's not the altitude because I run at 1100' and all it does is suck out a little power through out your entire run (~.2 seconds). Mike D can launch his I30 5 speed at 1500-2000rpms and pull 2.1 60 foots whereas if I do the same I only get high 2.2s and significantly slower ETs. If I launch at 4000rpms, I almost always get a lower 2.2s. It took me 1.5 years to get into the solid mid to lower 2.2 range. The trick is to get the car rolling and feed it gas, trying to ride the line between spin and stick.

I was in the same boat, with the oem Potenza RE92's I could cut no better than 2.3's and mostly did 2.4's. They had 26K on them, and treadwear was even, but still pretty good. I switched to Sumi HTR+ fronts, have cut ONE 2.3, and have never looked back. With brake-torque of 1500-2000 rpm, I can do a rare 2.1, and all 2.2's. ET's have gone down from 15.1's to 14.7's...Im debating on getting some 15" wheels and getting some bfg's wrapped around them, but the car is fwd, my thing is if I could pull consistent 2.0's with the dr's, that would cut another 3/10th's easy...

In summary, if practice fails, ditch the old rubber and get some new sticky rubber.

that is me exactly.... i ran consistent 15.1 with 2.3xx 60'. i know my car is faster than the 15.1. so when i put on new tires i cant wait to go to the track!
did you have higher trap speeds also? i can get 92.5 thats it.

Get the new tires man !!! You will be happier than a pig in $hit... To answer your ?, I did get slightly better traps, yeah, but when I went to the track with the new tires, I also had dropped in a can of BG 44K -this stuff is GOLD ! - and I went from 92.5mph-93mph to 94 mph, consistent. New tires, healthy running Max will bring you a big smile next time you hit the strip.

In perfect weather, with a perfect prep track, with perfect launch, an optimal running 02+ Auto Max should run 14.6 at 94 mph. Not too bad in my book.

i hit about 14.9xx with my 2.3 60'....with a trap of about 93-94... now that i have a ypipe.. i'm hoping for 14.7.. or 14.8... and once i get new tires maybe even 14.5, that is if i can drop my 60'....

BG 44K is a fuel treatment cleaner. It's like an adrenalin shot for your motor.
