+1. If you're looking to win races and race in general you bought the wrong car and honestly you're stupid for even creating a post about it. Go get a mustang or camaro.

Enjoy the car for what it's worth or consider trading it in. You won't win races but if you want a well appointed reliable car that can be made very sexy IMO then take it for what it's worth. Maybe consider a Z?

When I was younger and dumber, I did my fair share of street racing. I've had both a modified 1989 Mustang GT and 2003 350Z.
The key is KNOWING your car and the cars that you are likely to encounter on the street-- you end up knowing which ones you'll probably lose to.
But I agree with everyone else here. The Maxima is NOT the car to be racing in. It's a nice, sporty sedan for those looking for a fun, comfortable everyday car. There are not enough aftermarket high performance parts available for the 7th generation, so what you see is what you get for the most part.
I don't get into races with my Maxima because I don't like to lose--- unless you're going to race cars far beneath the Maxima, but what fun is that?

I specifically bought my Maxima NOT to race because it was a nice looking classy car with good lines and comfrortable. My last few cars (Corvette Z06, Supercharged 98 Mustang Cobra, Turbo Eclipse GSX heavily modified) were for racing all through 20s. Waste of money looking back on it but it was fun. To give you the short answer on your question it all comes down to power to weight ratio. You could have the exact same horsepower as another car but if it weighs a couple hundred pounds less it will pull away. There is no other factor that makes as much a difference other than the driver but when you're talking about 2 daily driven cars not designed to race I'm sure its not making a difference. Plain and simple he has a smaller, lighter car and the power to weight is what you are losing to.

While everyone is downing the Max for racing and I agree that's it's an enthusiasts car at most. You shouldn't have lost to that TL.
