anyone had this problem;
when first starting, idle fluctuates from around 500 to 2000...and then the fluctuating gradually stops (bout 5-10 min.) ..until warmed up..
any ideas as to what causes this.
FYI it started recently, about the same time my VTC's started getting louder...related perhaps???

Check the connections on your MAFS, and the Temp sensor.

Another thing is to clean out your IACV.

 

I had this problem pretty seriously for a while. Changing out all ov my Vac hose helped a bit, but it didn't go away completely until I cleaned out my throttle body. Bothe the hose and the cleanout are easy so I would say give them both a try and see if it clears things up for you.
