is it more expensive? I really like my magniflow, it is shiny and has a nice tone. FYI a muffler is not going to do anything performance wise other than sound by itself. Y-pipe WILL.

didn't read the whole site, but lets be honest...spending $200 on a muffler is ridiculous. just get a regular muffler like you planned

well he said it would be $550 for all stainless including a magnaflow cat and muffler, and the price is the same for the aero. This included labor.

he's trying to make more money off of you. it's probably a ripoff, kinda like that tornado air thingy, but i'm not gonna go there. just get the magnaflow.

lmao tornado!!!

yeah he said the aero creates a vaccum that gives you better gass mileage or some line of garbage like that, my gut feeling was to go with magna but I figured I'd see if anyone herd of this. What about the price of $550 for a cat, 2 1/4 stainles piping and the magna exhaust, I know the place is good but is that too much to pay?

Those donkeys used my car with out my permission in their video.

(ok, Eleanor vs. mine, but still.... with all those video clips from Gone In 60 Seconds, I sure hope they have permission...)

I'd get it just to try out... if it was less than $50. $200, screw that.

I dunno...spending $550 on exhaust seems too much to me...I dunno its just that I've been through this so long, I look for the best deals rather than all the bling **** and high price, my old catback cost me $60 for the muffler(OBX style), $75 for a high flow cat from WSP $180 install(2.5" mandrel bent steel piping)....little over $300.

I dunno, I don't trust many of these "shops" anyways

That dyno on the main page is so bunk. Its for a methanol drag racer and it is from 5500 to 7500 RPM. How can you correlate that to what it would do on a Maxima? And they are comparing it to a straight-pipe? What, straight pipe performance for only 4X the cost? Just get a WSP set up with a large resonator and a magnaflow muffler. You'll be happy.

I think your biased

really though, even look at the beginning part of the graph, notice the test pipe actually has moar powah! Granted we dont even know the cams on that biotch, but still, like you said, there's absolutely nothing on that page to help us figure out the gains on a 'normal' car (maxima, etc).

Most part tests only show optimum conditions.
not how they'll affect a "regular" car

i would think a design like that would only be good on turbo charged engines since you want as little backpressure as you can get with a turbo. on n/a engines since backpressure gives torque i would tend to stay away from exhaust systems that decrease backpressure a lot.

I thought we decided back pressure = bad and that air velocity = good.

crazy donkeys, make up your minds.

Back pressure helps bottom end ~ torque
Free air helps top end ~ HP

Yes you are right MrGone. Backpressure providing more torque is a misunderstanding. Exhaust gas VELOCITY is what provides more torque.

I just noticed on their website, they say this muffler COOLS your exhaust!! BAD BAD BAD! Cooling the exhaust REDUCES velocity. This is why racers use exhaust wrap, because it maintains the temperature.

By the time the exhaust is at the muffler I don't think it really matters whether the exhaust gets cooled or not; it doesn't have any farther to travel.

along the lines of muffler discussions...i've been looking up the similarities between the 5th gen mufflers and the g35 mufflers. they both have a variable exhaust thingy. But that's with the 03 G35 sedan. with the 04 g35 sedan, the muffler has an electronic variable thingy (i dont know what to put in place if thingy....valve maybe?) that opens up with either the variable intake or valve or something along those lines....as well as completely ...COMPLETELY silences it on idle. This exactly what I'm looking for. Unfortunately, from what i've seen, the G35 sedan muffler is is on the lhs from the rear. It is also shorter in length that ours. But I believe it can be made to fit with minor welding needed to be done.
