Need to locate the Modulator Valve!!!

I have been having trouble with my tranny "slipping" and then all of a sudden once I get up to speed it kind of falls into gear and goes on its way. I don't believe the tranny is shot because if it was it would be messed up all the time. My symptoms were very similar to a friends car and the modulator valve was the culprit. The part is only 12.99 at Advanced Auto Parts. Let me know, I'm very anxious to get my baby running again.

I own a 1989 SE Automatic.

Have'nt heard of a modulator valve in the max (VG). Known problems with the tranny are:

1)shift cable bushings breaking and falling off (very common). 2)tranny dropping resistor going bad. 3)tranny solenoid pack going bad.

And if your fluid is old, it should get a drain/fill every year.
