my car (95 maxima se 5spd vs. 2002 spec v 6spd)?!?!?

what would win? I have a y pipe, resonated b pipe, high flow cat, and technosquare ecu, and a frankencar intake vs. a 2002 spec v with headers, intake, high flow cat, cat-back, balance shaft removal, and UDP...

what tire pressures are best for straight line on our cars? i know on the spec v's, its like 28 up front and 38 out back or somethin....I have 235/45/ZR17's all around??!?! what psi for best straight line times? and what rpm should i launch at? dump is better than slipping on our cars right?

about if i added the intake manifold spacers, flywheel and udp? on top of the other stuff i have above? what would the race be like then?

Well your other thread got locked so this one might too, but I thought I'd post before people who don't know what they are talking about fill the thread with a bunch of misinformation yet again.

Spec V's are quick for what they are but mod for mod and stock vs stock they do are not as fast as a 4th gen maxima. Mod for mod a spec V is about .4 seconds slower.

Here is a copy and paste of their Top 1/4 Mile Performers. Notice all the mods they have to do to get down in the 14.6s and 14.7s. It just goes up from there as they get faster.

For comparison, I ran 14.8 stock and 14.4 with a Y pipe alone, with about 100K miles on it. What's a spec V got to have to run a 14.4?

All you people that think the spec V is faster than the 4th gen. Look at the numbers, the numbers don't lie. The 4th gen is the faster car by a significant margin.

i also have a spec v. an 02 to be exact. stock for stock they run about the same.. my best run with just inake is a 15.28 at 91 mph.. i think the spec with those mods witha good driver would do mid 14s.. the spec v unless dropped is very very hard to launch.. wheel hop up the ***.. if u get the launch u will win..

I agree with Neal. The Spec-V is great little car, but it can't touch the topend acceleration of a 4th gen especially one with an intake, y-pipe, and exhaust. Most us ran 95mph+ with just a y-pipe and intake. As you can see above, it takes quite a few mods to get a Spec-V to hit 94mph+.

BTW, if you fubar your launch just a little and he gets off the line a little better, you won't catch up till 80mph or so.

I can easily launch at 4000rpms with my 235/45s. All I do is slip the clutch to feel the car start to move and then I quickly release the clutch while feeding the car gas. This usually results in lower 2.2 60 foots which is decent for a FWD sedan.

But that's just my point, they don't run about the same. 15.4ish @90 is about typical for a decently driven spec V. 15.0 @ 92 is about typical for a decently driven 4th gen.

The fastest stock passes in spec Vs dont hold a candle to the fastest stock passes in 4th gens, and its the same with the modified ones. Stock for stock, and mod for mod, the 4th gen is faster.

lol with nitrous he should be doing alot better than a 14.8. lol if thats all he got out of it with nitrous, dam burn that car lol.. your right the 4th gen mod for mod would beat a spec v.. a spec v bone stock with an avg driver usualy runs mid 15s some low 15s... but for a little 4 banger the car has some *****! nothing like the 04 max though

the guy with nitrous has a 2000 sentra with the sr20de and performance package. he ran the 15.3 @ 93. he has NO traction in first gear. this car is definately well into the 14's once he hooks up.

my brother who has a 03 spec-v ran a 15.4 - 15.5 stock

my altima is suppose to run 17.2 stock, and I ran a 15.6 with just a high flow cone filter and a highflow muffler, 50 shot of dry N2O. (everything else was stock). plus i was with my full interior, heavy a$$ chrome wheels, and only 500psi max in the tank (i had no bottle heater). So i figured with the upgrades I have now, i should hit 14s easily in my automatic

I know 7SPEED on that SpecV list. He also has Balance Shaft removal...he's just in denial.

lol

You should be able to take the Spec.

I have played with 7SPEED a few times and before he got his exhaust I would pull on him hard right about 80 mph with my auto with y pipe and frankencar... with a good 5spd driver, we should run all over them top end... i've seen it

More like 100mph u would start to pull. Yeah its me aka 7SPEED .

But yeah michaelnyden, I don't know how much the ECU helps your car, do you have any dyno #'s or track times? Since the Spec has header...I say Spec takes it. It should be close though.

The fastest guys with ECU and no MEVI are running 14.0 and 14.1... I don't think the spec V has a chance if the original poster can drive worth a damn.

Look at this guys mods Kevin, Dwayne (with better wheel/tire combo) should be doing around these times... just an example of how bad Dwayne's car is really running...

Dwayne needs to learn how to drive is all. IIRC, Dwayne ran at Ennis with 16s and got a 15.1 to my 14.9. He needs to get the ecu to take advantage of his MEVI.

haha, sorry, Kevin = 7SPEED = KJ

dwayne is just another maxima enthusiast that isn't on the org. he drives a white 98 5spd with 19" version of the dodge wheels and he's got MEVI/custom exhaust/pr cai/y pipe and i think pulley, i'm not sure. he doesn't have an ECU and his best time in the quarter is 15.3 i think... not 15.1

He's got some type of piggyback ecu or something. Still w/ 19's... he should hav hit better then 10.4 in the 1/8 2wks ago If I mishift or hit 2.4 60's I still hit at least 9.8.

But well yeah if this guy can hit low 14's with those mods then he should take it. Mid 14's and it'll be close.
