car running like crap

the other day when i was leaving work i went to start up my car, it idled the high idle it usually does when its real cold, but when i was driving away, the very second i had the clutch out all the way the car started jumping real bad and giving it more gas would make it loose all power. i was thinking this was water in gas or frozen gas lines so i put in the "heet" stuff, and it got better right away, then about 15 mins later it started screwing up again, what could this be?

its a 91 maxima. i found out its not just when i let out the clutch, sometimes out of no where itll just run like crap. itll ping, wants to die when i give it gas, hard to get near or above 3000rpms in neutral, and impossible to even move the car without it dying on me. but itll just go away after a while and then come back. it just started this winter during the cold and when i was on empty. i replaced the fuel filter tonight and tried blowing through the old one which i replaced last summer, and that seemed to be a little clogged, hopefully thats my problem...

My uncles Volvo had the same problem and it was his fuel pump dying. Once he changed it the problem went away for good.

try using iso-heet first..its less than $1 a bottle..I personally would not waste money on regular heet, as ethyl/methyl alcohol removes an insignificant ammount of water..iso-heet is mostly isopropyl alcohol, which removes a LOT more water..also, if the gas is bad or just too low of an octane level, that might perhaps cause it..try an octane booster..those 2 are solutions that are cheaper than a fuel pump and may atleast get you through to better weather to check more in-depth

He also shows it for the dodge stealth, RX7, MX-6, CRX,accord, civic among others.
So basically you are looking at a universal pump.

the pump is probably fine, if you don't mind cutting wires and making other adaptions for it to fit and function.

i have a 255lph walbro pump in my 92 for about 2 months with out problems

1 if you deside to buy it make sure you find out if its the high or low pressure. if its the high pressure pump you will run rich with oout an ajustable FPR

2 yes i had to splice the 2 wires for the pump and the walbro pump is about 1/2 the size of the stocker but it comes with all needed installation accesories to make it fit all hoses hook right up

This was the first problem mine had when I got it. Some days it ran great, the next it couldn't get out of it's own way! When I checked the computer code I got the same two. Eventually, it got to where it just shut down at random. I had a bad coil (actually 2). The heat from in the head cracked the insulator on the coil. This causes the plug to misfire. That sets off the knock sensor code. I also had a fuel pump relay going bad. I was told a million times that they either work or don't. Well, mine worked sometimes. Thats the honest, parts man stumping, TRUTH! That is in the trunk under the trunk latch, little Green box.

That is what I did to fix mine. You can check the coils for cracks by taking them out and looking at them
