The weather is cold and dry, but the car doesn't seem as happy
Maybe it's jut me, but my VQ sure feels like it doesn't really enjoy very cold and dry air. When I say extreme cold I'm talking about 10-25 degrees and 30-40% humidity. With the engine and tranny fully warm, the motor just feels "tight" and lacks an eagerness to rev. When the temps are in the upper 30s+ the car feels much happier and a bit quicker. Anyone else experience this? Maybe it's the fact that the exhaust and intake sounds are harsher because they stay pretty cold even when the engine is warmed up.

when it was in the teens and below 10s (i'm talking 3 degrees here...) once the car was warmed up, it felt awesome! At a standstill, if i turned 90 degrees in either direction, I end up peg legging for a good deal of time, and fast enough to shoot up a billow of smoke through the windshield vents and from the inside tire. Stinks that i have a non-LSD auto...but that sounds odd, my car seems to love it...once it's warm of course...
Some thoughts:
1) "mail order" ECUs -- tuners will change timing AND fuel, usually leaning the motor a few %. Add in super cold, dense and dry air and you go boarderline lean.
2) The enging isn't running as hot as it should for the ECU to recognize the engine is up to proper operating temps. Maybe temps sensors are affected by super cold temps, thermostat is starting to faile, etc....
3) My car seems to like cold weather. Once up to temp, it runs very good :-)

my 95 hoopteee max runs like a champ in this chilly weather. I have 143K and running very strong. As a matter of fact I just drove this car from Atl to Pa and back.
