Anti-Lock Light (ABS) after CV Joint Swap?

Ever since I replaced my passenger side CV joint/shaft, the Anti-Lock light comes on when I drive. I was sure to get the ABS version of the joint/shaft and it does have the notches on it like the original one did. When I was replacing the joint/shaft I unhooked the brake line by the caliper by accident, but I was sure to hook it back up properly. I also bleed the brake on that side.

The car stops fine, but why the light?

You did not get the right axle, or make sure those little teeth for the ABS sensor are touching or even there.

1) Run the diagnostic to verify which sensor is out.
2) If it's the same frt pass side, then did you unhook the abs connector from it's holder when you replaced the CV?

Reason: When you pull the strut assy away to get the cv joint out, you stretch the abs sensor connector wire. If you damage it, then the light comes on.

Nothing to do with the brake line. But you might try cleaning the end of the abs sensor. It's a magnet

Thanks for the tips, I won't get to check it all out till tomorrow night.

Is there a way to perform this diagnostic myself to check which sensor is out?

The connector is still connected from under the hood, but it could have gotten stretched out. With all that grease I had in by the joint, I could have gotten the sensor way dirty.

I'll post back what I discover to be the cause... (I hope)

craig,
to test the abs sensors do you have to use the 'real time' (mode 5) diagnostics test?

no, to test the ABS, just drive the car and pull the code from the main ABS control unit
check out the article on bignissans (http://www.btinternet.com/~d.brooks1...ticles/abs.htm), it's pretty easy

the main unit is in the trunk on the passenger's side, attached to the bottom of the rear shelf

In case anyone cares, it looks I had a dirty sensor that probably got dirty while I was messing with the CV axle. The sensor was fairly easy to remove and was held on by three bolts and one screw. I used some fine grit sandpaper to clean it up. It seems to have done the trick as the light has not come on since.
