Where Can I Get Red Leds For 2 1/16" Autometer Phantoms?
I Ordered One From Ebay And It Ended Up Being A 194, That Won't Work. I Need Red Light.

Ewwww. don't do it. you shoulda bought rice gauges if you wanna do that.

 

I think that he wants to try to get rid of the light bulb effect in his gauges (bright in the center, dims out to the edges), but he doesn't know the fact that LED's will only increase that effect becuse of their poor diffusion characteristics.

Your best bet is to using brighter bulbs if you want different color gauges. Then, go to the shop that you bought those gauges from, they might have different bulbs. Or check with the manufacturer if they do as well.

Autometer Phantoms are lit from the outside, not from the center. The outside will always be brighter on the phantoms unless you have a very bright bulb.

and LED's can defuse light very well. It is all in the shape of the 'lense'.

Using a bench grinder is not an effective way to defuse LED's, sand paper on the other hand....... With some fine sand paper and paper towels (or anything that can polish stuff) you can very effectively modify a 5mm LED's focus/beam.

 

Then the light is only visible from the bottom 180* of the light. LED's are at like a 15-20* viewing angle.

Now, if you want to change the beam pattern, well then a bench grinder is for you! Sandpaper is too costly and time consuming for the average person too, especially at the level grit that you'd have to use for it to be good.
