I read a little while back about an oil additive you add before draining your oil that helps take out all the bad junk when you drain it. What is it called, or do any oil additives really help and would be good to put in?
I switched from regular oil to mobil 1 synthetic (10w-30 in arizona), but would adding anything help make sure the engine lasts longer?

Side note -tranny flush hard to do yourself?

amsoil make one also...
marval mystery is another.

when you use it DO NOT drain out all your oil..unlike what the instructions says to do...well u can...but makes me feel better there's SOME oil in the motor when you fire it up and not a qt of kerosene.

 

Hmmm, would it be a good idea to use the engine flush though? I've used the mobil 1 synthetic since last oil change, putting the same in, according to the directions online, I drain 1/2 a quart of oil, add the flush, run idle for 30 minutes, and finish changing the oil+filter?

Would doing the engine flush be a good idea (164k mi, probably never had one done before)?
