Subframe connectors, who has them?

Hey whats up guys. As some of you know Im going to be purchasing a 4th gen maxima this summer. I was debating my first mods but I think Im going to go with the Subframe connectors first. Ive always thought they were a great performance upgrade for the money. What are you guys' thoughts and experience on the sub frame connectors? And, if anyone has any pics show me to your website or post the pics here. Thanks!!

I got mine installed at the same time as my H&R AGX so it is hard to say what benifit came fom the SFCs. There is a minor problem with ground clearence, mostly on speed bumps and steep driveways. It can be difficult to find a shop willing to install them. Also resale is affected, you can't just take them off.

I have them too. I had them installed when I had stock suspension and rims, so it was more difficult to see the benefits. I can no longer get in and out of my driveway without scraping badly, and I get a bad noise when I get wheelhop due to the SFCs probably hitting part of the exhaust.

I have them and they're one of the best mods out there. The increase in ride quality is dramatic and the reduction in body roll is massive.

Unbolt the X-braces, leave the side tubes. Then just dont mention them when you sell.

What's wrong with that?

It does what it suppose to do. It stiffens up the chassis. Find a shop willing to install them was the most part. The best type of shops are the ones that are willing to do custom exhaust. This part takes alot of welding so the exhaust shops don't mind.

Yeah

I have a hunch that for me findign a shop may not be a problem. I might have to travel about an hour away to get them done but hey when you live in Texas an hour of driving aine nothin.

You can see mine from the side, I think any person looking to buy a car who gave it a good looking over would probably notice. If you look at my sig picture you can see them below the rear door, they are more noticable in person.

If you wanted to trade it in at a dealer they would almost certainly notice. If you cut them off the weld marks on the frame rails would most likley make any dealer refuse to accept it as a trade.

And I won't even go into the ethical debate of selling a car with a permanent Mod and not telling the buyer about it, but it is not something I would do.

I am not saying it isn't a great mod if you plan on keeping your car for a while or selling it modded. But if you are thinking of trading it in or selling it stock you may want to give it some more consideration.

If you look at the pic I posted above you can see there is a small block between the B-pipe and the little brace that is behind the resonator. It is a rubber exhaust hanger and without it my exhaust will constanly bang the X bracing. It is held in place with wire ties and has been like that for over a year without any problems. Of course my Warpspeed B-pipe never fit correctly so that may have been part of the problem.

OMG the server is killing me this morning.

Where do you get these...I ahve been meaning to do this mod since I first heard about them.

Is the scraping really that much worse than with H&R/AGX alone? It doesn't look like it adds that much more to the bottom of the car...

Honestly, the SFCs are probably tied with my MEVI/JWT ECU combo as one of my best mods. The SFCs dramatically increased chassis stiffness which improves ride quality and the overall feel of the car. Handling is also improved, especially the feel of the rear end over bumpy surfaces. The increased handling in nice, but I really like the improved feel of my car.

I'm riding on H&Rs and I've never scrapped the SFCs before, but they do hang about 2" lower below portions of the rear doors. Looking at my car from the side and sitting on the ground, the SFCs actually can be seen below my Stillen skirts. I was hoping the skirts would hide the SFCs, but once the skirts were installed I noticed they really only sit about .5" lower than the stock rocker panels.

The way I looked at it that the car isn't worth a lot already and in the future it will be worth a lot less. When I comes time to sell the car, I hope to unload it the way it is. If I end up striping the mods, I'll be honest if the buyer asks about then. I'll hand them a copy of Warpspeeds internet catalog showing that they are indeed SFCs and not some sort of body damage repair. I'll tell them about the benefits also. If it comes down to this, I pull off and sell the Stage II unless they want it.

Jesus...that's definitely lower. I might have to think twice about this and just stick with the FSTB and RSTB...I can barely make it into my driveway as it is. I have to hit the angle...the car will not make it in straight.

Ahhh...yea I suppose I could get them from warpspeed since they are, in fact, MADE by warpspeed...

The improvement that you get with SFCs is dramatic. It's not like installing an intake where you say "I think I feel a difference but I'm not sure." When you install SFCs, you know they are there.

We have cut a few sets off to make sure it could be done with no damage because we knew there would be concerns..

All it takes is an angle grinder and perhaps a sawzall. One of my friends traded in his 2001 Maxima in and we took off the stage 2 and left the stage 1 on. The dealer never gave him a problem. You can even leave the mounting tabs attached to the "framerails" and simply touchup the undercoat.

We are also working on a bolt on set right now.

regards
Dallas

Here's an idea of how much lower they sit:

What you see hanging down below the rear door is the Stage I SFC. Stage II (cross bracing) doesn't sit lower than the Stage I. The pic makes the SFCs seem really low. There's about 5.5" clearance.

I thought about getting these, but I didn't realize they hang down even further. I mean, another 2" is a lot. I don't want to be scraping on them. They sound awesome though. I just have to stick with the RSB for now.
Let us know what you think if you get them, max88q.
