FREE rear anti-roll bar for '04 Max

Its time to make a new rear anti-roll bar (rear sway bar, same thing) for the 04+ Maxima series and we'd like to borrow a car in the Orange County (Anahiem), CA area for 2 full days of fitment work. We'd be happy to provide a free bar to the volunteer as soon as they go into production.

This is another Cattman Performance-Progress Technology project, a logical move following the very successful and effective bar they developed for the 95-03 Maxima/I30/I35.

Progress is a very professionally operated facility, the prototyping car will be in very secure circumstances, locked up inside overnight, and since it doesn't require the disassembly of major parts systems you can be confident about picking it up in the same condition it was left off.

Trim level or tranmission doesn't matter, sounds to me like they all need some of this treatment, but the volunteer should be a driving enthusiast who will throw the car around a few cornsers and provide some feedback. No idea what the retail price will be yet, but we have a great price on the earlier version and the new ones will be a good value as well.

If interested, please contact me via email at <catt@cattman.com>. We'd like to do this in the next 2-3 weeks.

Someone in Cali should jump on this, If I lived in the area theres no way I could turn down a free product, plus this should help the handling of the 04 some. Any other products in the works by cattman?

Any chance there will be something similar for the other end?

A logical question, as you'd think whatever is good for the back is good for the front, but I think the opposite is usually true in a front wheel drive (fwd) car. Its most likely that the main benefit from a front sway bar would be to enrich the seller because fwd cars typically need less bar thickness in the front to handle better, not more. They're often disconnected entirely when racing autocross. A stiffer FSB causes a front wheel drive car to plow straight through a corner worse than it does anyway.

All that said, the guys at Progress know this stuff far better than I and if they thought the vehicle would benefit from a different FSB (not necessarily thicker) we'd sure take a look at it as long as the car's there.

I know what you meant, but would just note that rather than "some", these will help a "whole bunch" (to use the technical phrase). Rear anti-roll bars are amazing things - so little invested, so easily installed, no negative impacts - and they have a profound effect every time you go through a corner.

As far as other parts for the 04l, we do have a prototype "real" cold air intake kit that we'd like somebody to try installing. If that worked out, we'd pay for a dyno and A/F run. My strong preference would be for this to occur in Arizona (Tucson, Phoenix or thereabouts) so I can be directly involved.

And there is another y-pipe project lurking in the background...

Just if I had a 6th gen and lived in Cali, I would jump on this. I'm surprised nobody wanted to do this yet!

I will donate my car if you can do it over the weekend of Feb 14-16. I live about 5 hours north of LA and I'll be heading down to San Diego that weekend, so I could drop it off there on my way and pick it up again on Monday. If that works for you, email me at chris@chrisaustin.us
