Hard brake pedal in the morning

Everytime I start my car in the morning in the cold weather (not a problem during the spring/summer/fall) my brake pedal is rock hard. It goes to normal after a while, but it's still dangerous for me sometimes when I'm in a hurry and I drive my car cold to school.

I almost hit a girl once who was crossing at a stop sign and I almost rear ended a car, but I stopped both times by pulling up the parking brake My car isn't that great stopping wise either.

Is my master cylinder dying?

brakes

hey,

my break peddel is no different winter (-20c) than it is in summer.
i would guess it's part of your 'mechanical action'. ie. the peddel itself through the master cylindar.

if it were the breaks, they shouldn't all have the same stiffness at the same temp, thus one would lock up before the others. (consistantly)

probably a good idea to just ask a mechanic, they may run into that specific problem quite frequently.

...just ideas...

Your brake booster is probably leaking when it's cold. The master cylinder is probably fine, when it goes bad your brake pedal will go to the floor rather easily.

I'll have the mechanic look at it and I know it's not normal... I'll have to keep an eye on the fluid level to see if there is a leak or not. Found some stuff online:

It probably has to do with the power booster I guess I'll see what my mechanic says next week.
