Center console madness

What are you guys using, if anything to protect the center console and shift lever areas?

I went to get my car detailed at the dealer's, and they scratched the entire round piece where the gear lever is. Of course they ordered a new one for me, but this is driving me crazy. I tried to rub a spot off the chrome area with my finger, and it scratched the heck out it.

Anyone using plastic, felt or anything for protection? How is it working for you?

It looks so beautiful, but I have to be EXTRA careful to not drop my MP3 player or keys getting out the car.. OUCH!

I feel you 100%!!! I think Nissan had good intentions, but the material used just isn't one that will run the course of 100K miles +... So, to Nissan: It looks great, but please engineer better quality for longer lasting luster!!!

What I can't stand is the glare coming off of it in direct sunlight.

When I bought my car it was scratched, they replaced it before I left the lot, but again it is scratched. I'm so bummed, and worried that I can't move in my car without scratching something!!!!

I agree too. It looks great but it's not really a practical application. I guess we'll all be forced to buy those aftermarket dash kits that stick-on the exsisting pieces. I'm not really a big fan of these kits but I've seen some on the 350Z that look decent and I guess it's better then looking at a scratched piece of plastic.
