Hey what do you guys think of a B pipe? Is it worth 250 bucks? I already have a Stillen intake and Stillen rear muffler....so would it make the exaust louder? MAke the car any quicker? Any feedback would be appreciated!

i had both the stillen B pipe and stillen rear exhaust. I think that the b pipe is worth it because it completes the cat back system. The b pipe eliminates the resonator after the car, thus making it louder, but also making more hp. I had some vibration problems but i fixed them. If you get the b pipe and have some problems, contact me and i'll help you...

I also have noticed the sound that the B-pipe makes
under heavy accelleration and turning hard right. It
is not the pipe actually clanking, but the muffler
bracket connecting the two pieces of the pipe. If you
rotate it away from the heat shield slightly, the
sound goes away. Better still, get the guys at the
muffler shop to weld it and lose that bracket.

Just my 2 cents...

I like my B-pipe, but it does add a little noise
to the overall noise output. The stock muffler seems
to quiet it down nicely.

BB

PS: Without the Y-pipe, you really are not going to
get much benefit from the B-pipe.

$tillen B-pipe

...worth $250? -Nope! It's just a bent pipe, not even SS.
Loud as hell. Courtsey's is SS same diameter Plus+ resonator for a less-loud ride.
Go for the Courtsey $180 +/- . Take Ur savings towards a RT Cat.

Actually NJ, the Stillen B pipe IS stainless steel, maybe you have an older model?? Mine is stainless steel, and I got it for $200(I guess they raised the prices). It definitely frees up flow, specially in the mid to high end. YES, the sound gets deeper and louder, but if you don't have a Y pipe, then you should be okay. With the Y pipe, it may be TOO loud. It is definitely worth it, because without it my exhaust sounded "raspy," now it is deep and mellow.

...well, my b-pipe is a bit old, about 2yrs. I got it used for $90. I'll look again, I might have SS and not know it. I did not buy it thinking it was.
My CAI,Ypipe, bpipe and stillen mufler makes for a noisy combination. If spring ever arrives, I'll try wrapping the Y. Otherwise I might get the Courtesy B w/ resonator and a not so loud mufler.

Hey everyone....this guy emailed me and said he'd sell me an Apexi B pipe for cheap...he's gonna bid on a catback on Ebay and all he wants is the muffler. So my question is, is there any difference in that one and the STillen one? Is this one stainless steel? Thanks everyone

As far as I know, the APEXi bpipe either has one or a couple of smaller-than-stock resonators. It is not stainless, but has a good powdercoated finish. For $90, it'd jump on it. That should be a good pipe. The only thing I'd worry about is will it match up with the stock muffler without modification? I doubt it. The APEXi probably uses a different flange, and I wouldn't be surprised if the position of the flange wasn't forward or back from the location of the original one.

Actually considering the fact that I installed both and fixed the problem, I'm sure that it is not the muffler clamp. It is the pipe hitting the metal that the rubber hanger is attatched to the car on.

How to fix it:

Well, first I had taken it to a muffer shop and they thought that it was the hanger rod off of the pipe, so they heated it up and bent it down. Then the problem came back, so I hacksawed through most of the rod and bent it down some more. Then I realized where it was hitting mostly.

So my friend that is in our student autoshop with me was working on an old 350 and he gave me a hose clamp, like the kind on the intakes, but much smaller. I put it on the support rod, right next to the rubber hanger (on the pipe side), and made sure that the pipe was as far away from the thing it was hitting, and I tightened it down. Voila! No more vibration....
