i currently have 16gs in the bank which i got from insurance for totaling my last max. I am considering either another maxima, 97se, or a 97 acura 3.0cl. Both cars combine luxury and performance, which is what im looking for, but i just cant decide between the two. I know the cl has less aftermarket support, but they are sweet rides and one of the best looking cars on the road. WHAT DOES EVERYBODY THINK?

Go for the Max.
When I got mine last year I was lookin at 97 SE's and 97 Acura 3.2's. The Max was a little cheaper and was what I truly wanted anyway. My 2 cents...

16G's is a nice chunk of change. You should find yourself a 5 speed Maxima and mod the f#$@ out of it. I never cared for the auto CL's and I dont like the rear end. Now if they made a manuel for that car, then i would flip for it, either way, they both are nice and look extremley sweet when dressed up. But thats my opinion.

get the max

If you go to the auctions you can find a 97se 5speed for probably around 13500 with low miles and then you will have an extra 2000 to mod it the cl will not even be able to dream of what that car can be anyway get the MMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I have a 98 CL3.0 and a 97 Max. The CL is a much nicer ride to cruise in but the Max is MUCH more fun to drive. My wife drives the Max daily and I drive the Acura. On the weekends we take the Acura everywhere but when I want to tear up the road I take the Max. The Acura has 200hp vs. 190hp but off the line the Max feels like it would smoke the CL. Where on the highway the CL feels like it would smoke the Max (70-110mph). My wife won't race me when I am next to her at the stoplight. She's stupid like that. I like them both but if you want speed, go with the Max. You cant find crap for speed parts for the Acura 3.0. (Headers -$1200 Exhausts - $$$$). Hope that helps. Feel free to ask me any other specifics.

Both are great cars. If you need more room or know that you'll have passengers or a baby seat often, then obviously the Max. If you find a 5speed Max, then go for it. If you find a 5speed with money left over, then spend the extra cash on mods and any other things to give your Max a little character. Max looks better overall too (just my opinion). Good Luck!

wrong about the 3.0 cl

There is no way it is faster at any speed because my friend has one and I kill him at any speed of the start on the highway
even my friend that has the 2dr honda accord 98 kills him even though that car is suposed to be the same he puts up a better fight with me but still losses

If you have 16k in the bank and you really want a Honda, get a 99 Accord V6 Coupe. Absolutely awesome car, less of a driver's car than a Max, but it looks great and drives smooth. My roommate has a red 2000 EX V6, and it's just sweet.

Get the Maxima. The 3.0 CL is a nice car, but essentially a previous generation Honda Accord coupe gussied up as an Acura. My roomate has a '97 3.0 CL, and it's a very nice car (it's an Acura), but my Max is much better! Even the quality and fit and finish is better on my Maxima, not to mention the performance.
