96 gle vs 96 ford countour se

my friends got a 96 contour se, and its 5 spd with the 2.5 liter, but its bone stock. ive got the auto gle, and we hit up an empty straightaway. off the line i had him, then he squealed into second, and pulled ahead by a bit, and he stayed a half car length ahead of me for the whole race. it was pretty tight considering i wasnt expecting to keep up. then we hit up some stoplights on the way home, and i beat his a$$, so i didnt understand it. we just called it a tie. so ill wait til i get my ecu and cai then spank him

This thread should get deleted but...

before the max, I had a 95 Mystique V6 with the 5spd. Check the numbers on the 2.5L V6... there's a LOT less torque. Even with your stock auto, I don't think you should have had a problem.

If you two were competing on a slalom/road course, I would bet on the Contour. But on the 1/4 mile, the max has my vote.

And lastly, at least disguise your street race as a track race if you are going to post about it. and even better, keep it on the track.
