Should I sell my Maxima?

I have a 98 maxima, Super Black with Black Leather and a 5 speed. On the January 5 some as%***e tries to steal my car. The guy broke my passenger window, and ripped out my ignition switch. Guess he didn't realize that I have a AutoLock on the Clutch so he couldn't start the car. Then he starts pulling, twisting the sh#t out of it. But my AutoLock came though for me, my car was still there in the morning. I got the window fixed 140 dollars and a new ignition keyed to the same key as my other locks 190 dollars. Didn't put the ignition in till last week because of the cold wheather. After all that, they try to sell my car again ealry Sat morning. Broke the passenger window again, ripped out the ignition again, but didn't do anything to the AutoLock, I'm guessing different people. But because of the first atempt to steal my car, I got the viper 791xv alarm installed. So about 4:00 on Sat morning I hear my pager go off. I run downstairs, I see the people trying to steal my car, but they don't see me. I fly down a cop car that was passing by, told them that someone was stealing my car right now. They drove up to their car that was double parked next to mine. Two guys get out of the car and run. The cops were only able to get one of the guys but one guy is better than none. So now I got to get all those things fixed all over again.

So I am considering selling my max. What should I do?

great! some of these ****** finally got caught!
so what is the logic behind you selling your car? i mean why wouldnt they try to steal a different car?
just get one of those security systems that spray mace into the guys eyes when they try to steal your car that should teach them!
BTW, are they still legal?

I dont know if they will or not, but chances are that they are going to try to steal my car again. I say that because where I live there are like 6 to 8 other 4th gen maximas within a 5 block radius and my car is the only one that they been trying to take. Thats why I'm concidering getting something else.

Park next to a more expensive car from now on. That usually works quite well. You may have to walk a block or two, but it's all good.

That didn't help me. There was a X5 and a 745 on the block too.

Wow...can you see your car from your house/apartment? If so, set up a camera...try to catch all of these ********! Look at it this way: You're helping out the world (well, your town) by putting these guys in their place...jail.

Why sell the car? chances are it was the same *******s both times and now their caught.I didn't know that maxima's were that high on the car theif demand list. Are they?I have a 5 speed also so should I be concerned? At any rate with your car being a 5 speed i'd make sure it's heavily insured and keep it.

That sucks, Man. I am sorry to hear that you are having so much trouble with your max getting steal attempts. It is a beautiful one though. Try to come up with some other solution other than selling, if you can.

that is fre akin' awesome that you were able to call the cops while they were trying to steal your car and catch at least one!!! Props on that!!!

these guys are probably in the same ring of car thieves....

if your car has been marked, it will be stolen eventually. why put up the hassle when the car is meant to be enjoyed. I would either put it in a garage or sell it.

I'm not really worried about someone actually stealing the car. I got the AutoLock on the clutch so they can't drive it. I'm going to get a MultiLock for the shifter so they can't even try to shift without pressing down on the clutch. If they really want the car they would have to tow it. For those that have Auto's and have an AutoLock on the brake petal, there is a way around it. So becareful. I'm just tired of fixing it every time they try to steal it. But as of right now I'm not going to sell it, I love my car too much to do that. Spent to much time looking for the one I want to give it up so easily.

when i lived in brooklyn (Bay Ridge), my dad's '96 GLE got broken into 2 times. Luckily he had a LoJack2 and they couldn't figure out how to start the engine.

I guess maxima parts are easy to sell.

I truly feel bad for those that have to go through with break-ins.
If it means less stress for you to get a different car, then go for it. It's not worth all this crap, afterall.. a car is a car..
