I try to arrive 15-20 minutes before the gates open because my track is extremely busy and teching the car in takes time, especially if there's a line of people waiting to tech in. Once I'm teched in, I go find my parking spot (aka Pit). I pop the hood and let the motor cool, I open the trunk and pull out my cooler which has my tools, air compressor, and jack. I yank the spare then air up the rear tires to 48psi. Then jack up the front and put the stock 15s on and air them down to ~28psi and then tighten my struts to full stiffness. All this takes about 20 minutes. By now the track is open and people start making runs. I go and sit in the bleachers and watch how well people are hooking up. I like to watch about 15-20 minutes of racing so that the crude gets cleaned off the track. Seeing that I'm lucky to get 3 passes in 4 hour period, every run has to count.
I wish I was lucky and got to run at some of the lower volume tracks because I never feel like I can get any good practice (multiple runs) unless it's 90+ degrees out when no one really shows. I go to the track about 2 times a month during track season, but that's only about 6-7 runs total

I have a small items check, lol ! Small screw driver for adjustable suspension, 10 mm wrench for ecu (just in case), air pressure gauge (to drop tire pressure),Vise-Grip pliers (hood struts are shot) and a tiny flashlight for nightime tinkering. Without these items I am nothing !
Like dave b, I open the hood and let the engine cool down. I usually have a pretty good drive before I get to the track so she is good and hot.
Then I get to lowering air pressure in the fronts and wait for frosty to bum my air gauge ! LOL ! We sit around and watch cars make passes until we cant take it anymore and have to run.
Thats about it. I have never listened to the radio at the track. I see and hear lots of people who do.

Thanks guys! Ive never been to the track.. Im hyped about going when it gets warm.. A few ?'s i got...
Can you set up races between u and ur friends.. Like Head to head?
Is it illegal 2 bet?
What should i adjust the tire pressure to...
Are Nitto NT555 tires any good?
Thanks alot

Well, I've only really been once, but I can tell you what I'm going to do next time. Before I leave, I will take out all the stuff from my car (subs, seats, carpet, crap etc...) and check my fuel level. When I get there I will probably tighten my front shocks and air up the rear tires if possible. Then deflate the fronts to 25 psi. Between runs I open the hood, and when the car is on, I turned up the heat all the way to remove some heat from the engine. Next time I go to the track I might bring some ice to cool down the intake/manifold. Oh yea, I put my seat up as far as possible for "quicker" shifts.
The night before I go to the track, everything minus registration, proof of insurance, car manual goes out of the car. Since I usually go by myself, I leave the spare/jack/tools in the trunk (shame on me). I plan in advance to go into the track w/less than 1/2 tank, and preferably 1/4 tank of gas. Fuel weighs in at over 6 lbs a gallon (you can do the math...), so if I can shed an extra tenth, gain 1 mph, its worth it. Free mods, woot woot!
I like to cruise into the staging lanes, fresh off the highway, with no cool down. I've been told this is a bad thing, but I have consistently gotten my best 60' and ET's doing this. My traps get better as I let Lily cool down though.
When at the track, I don't have any music playing. While in the staging lanes, I have the heat on full blast, windows open. When I go to stage, up come the windows, off goes the heater. I lock out OD (I'm auto). Do a small burn out to clean junk on the tires and stage. Two ambers later, Im rolling through the lights, hopefully getting a .500 light. If I see the third amber, I've most likely been treed by the person next to me.
Come back out, park, hood up, go away for half-hour to an hour. Yeah, it's all about getting it just right.
