My 04 SE came with 245/45/18's. The 2004 SL's came with smaller tires.

You do realize that in less time than it took you to post your original message, and reply, you could have gone to Nissan's website and read that the SL comes with - P225/55HR17 H-rated all-season tires

I realize that thank u for the critique, and yet the very question of if those aforementioned rims that are 17 x7 would indeed fit the 225/50/17 rubber?!

Thank you ahead of time for a reply

brooklyn - If you are considering moving both the tires and wheels to the '04, I would bet they would fit, as they are both Nissan, and both 17".

If your question is whether the 225/50/17 tires would fit on the 17" rims of the '04 SL, the answer is yes. The only difference between your 225/50/17 tires and the 225/55/17 tires that come on the '04 SL is the 55 profile is a slightly taller tire, and has a slightly greater load capacity. The 225 is the overall width of the tire in millimeters at the widest part of the sidewall, and that width is the same for both these tires. Therefore, the distance across the beads (where the tire rests on the wheel) should be the same.

Should you go that route, when these tires wear out, I would hope you either make the slight step up to 225/55/17, or even 235/55/17 (which will also fit on the SL rims), in order to have tires with greater load-carrying capacity (just a slightly greater safety margin).
