Auto tranny shifts into neutral at a stop and sometimes while your driving..

My auto will I think shift into N whenever I come to a stop, I think its N because it will roll back if on a hill or if u let off the brake it wont move it all. It takes revs anywhere from 1k to up to 3k to get it to start moving. Then it shifts normal at WOT, sometimes its kinda rough like the resistor mod at part throttle shift. Every now and then it will even go into N when on the highway or just anywhere, I think its going to N because the revs will go down the idle ~700rpms, when im going 60-80 whatever! But as soon as I give it gas the revs jump up to where they should be and catch and then you can accelerate. I got a check engine light, and got these 4 codes: 8-6, 11-6, 5-4, 3-4. I looked them up but couldn't make a whole lot of sense out of them. Just wondering if anyone has had this happen to them?

yeah, i have the exact same problem right now. i just dropped my car off at AAMCO this morn, they quoted me $1050 just to rebuild which is soft parts and labor, could be more if I got hardware problems.

i have the same problem for 6months now...after my rebuild,i am led to believe it is a line losing pressure somewhere in the AT but no one knows where it is, after 2 rebuilds under warranty. i just picked up a used tranny for 300 at a junkyard hope it will be fine, i am not going to go through the hassle of converting to 5 speed even though i would love 2

I think the mudding was the last straw lol, see the sig hehe

Yeah some of the codes point to a TCM failure or the communications line b/t the ECU and TCM.

It sounds like something simple.. (but probably not)

they call it neutralizing, and as someone said your losing line pressure somewhere in your tranny. most likely you cooked you clutch packs and some seals and now your fluid is leaking. i had this EXACT same problem 6 months ago.

maximum96 did you replace the valve body? after my rebuild my car still would slightly jerk into gear and as it turned out i needed a new vb.

good luck

You said im losing line pressure so I did the resistor mod (always full line pressure) and it seems to help it. I think I will be able to get it to last longer until I can replace it...

i dont know i was told that my VB was replaced but still neutralizes, they say the problem in Autos can be so small a leak u would need a microscope to see it, havent had time to drop the used tranny in...by the way, all these problems started after i kept doing neutral drops i learned my lesson also, I cant stress enough DO NOT do neutral drops with this maxima tranny

that sucks man...

On a side note, my tranny is shot now too, but pops won't let me put in a manual tranny ..... The only reason though is that the nissan dealership won't do it, so he figures it is a stupid idea and a waste of money...
